Maybe there is no vacancy during those dates. Just keep refreshing the page and keep your eye on it because people change their exam dates pretty frequently. You must be ready in real time to take their spot. It may be difficult to schedule an exam during this period because a lot of people would want to have their results in time for the match.

When is your eligibility period?

There probably aren't any openings. Just keep checking back. There's a program that can help you watch out for open dates, but I forgot what it's called. Someone posted here on the forum somewhere. Sorry that I couldn't be of any more help. Good luck with the exam.

Download Check4Change (v 1.9.3) as an add-on to Firefox. You'll see some people refer to it as 'C4C'.
Set it up to be reloading the scheduling every 15 seconds or so with an alarm. That way you don't have to be reloading it manually.

I had an issue with my version of Firefox (23.0.1) so I reloaded v 21 and C4C worked perfectly.

It's correct.
You have to take into account all those people taking CS for 2015 match. In addition, many who are applying to the 2014 match take whatever date they can and then reschedule their exam for an earlier date as other people cancel / reschedule.

Seriously - use the C4C add-on and I guarantee you'll have an October date within 48 hours. I actually got an e-mail in the middle of night saying there was an Oct 1st date available. Of course, that spot didn't last long!
The only bummer is that you need your computer to be running with the add-on all the time and being in a position to click on the date immediately when the alarm goes off.

Hi all,

I am also worried for CS dates. I have booked the date on jan 10th in Philly but I wanted to give my exam by Dec mid-end in Houston. I have downloaded Check4change but I am not sure which data should be selected for change? Should I select only the dates in the months and use C4C every one hour. Shall be very grateful if someone can clarify this.

I have also put some preferences in the ecfmg site but when the email is received the dates are already booked. Now even the availability seems difficult

If you absolutely MUST take your exam by mid December, then I would be looking to obtain a test date at ANY of the test centers. Don't limit yourself to one test center if you are stuck for dates (beggars can't be choosers, etc.!).

Log in to ECFMG and go to the CS date availability screen.
Open up 5 screens with a different city on each screen. Select the month you want to take the test.
Highlight the dates you want to take the test (e.g. highlight Dec 1st - 15th).
Right-click the selected dates and go to check4change 'custom'.
Select a 10 (or 15) second page reload time and set the alarm to come on and the tab to come forward when there's a date available.
Make sure your computer volume is up!

When a test date becomes available, you'll get notification.
Act on it IMMEDIATELY.
When you've got that date, set up your settings again if you want to revise that date (e.g. you want a date within 2 days of the date you got).

NB - notice I said set C4C to 10 or 15 SECONDS. Not an hour! Those spots will be gone in about 5 seconds or less. Guaranteed!

Thank you very much for a detailed explanation.
