if there was nothing to counsel about dont worry about it..but of course if the patient says that he doesnt smoke or drink you can tell him that its a good habit..

Sometimes there is nothing obvious such as risky sexual practices or excessive drinking, but usually there is something you can find to at least discuss with the patient in order to better their lives.

Nutrition is a big one....

Sun safety...

Things like this that you may not consider should always be discussed, and even if there's no direct mention of them, when you close you should always consider mentioning these lifestyle improvements that will help the patient in the long run.

we should always counsel. you get 6 points for it and it could be one sentence. i always asked about meds, counsel on tylenol, iboproofen bla-bla, exercise , diet if there is nothing obvious.

it was few months ago, can't remember where i read it, maybe preface in fa book. but, counseling gets the most points. 1 pt for knocking, 1 pt for introducing yrself, 1pt for washing hands/gloves....
just google it, im sure you can find it.
there are many examples of counselling in fa book and rest you can find here.
many people will take nsaids or tylenol: there you go!
many will say they eat takeouts: big no,no!
no exercise: great topic.

but in order to counsel, make sure you ask questions in anamnesis, otherwise you wont know.

Something I read somewhere said that no proper closure or counseling was a common mistake for failure. I also read it was 6 points but I haven't seen anything official about it.
