Default Visa application without step 2 CS permit

Hello!

I applied for step 2 CS on 30th september, 2013 and posted my form 183 on 1st oct, 2013. My 1st question is- when will I get my permit and visa letter approximately?

My problem is that I have to begin my elective rotation on 18th november, 2013. So I must schedule my visa appointment at New Delhi embassy soon now. My 2nd question is- should i schedule my visa appointment without the CS permit and visa letter? or should I wait for the permit and letter? And how long can i wait, considering that I must be in US by 18th of november?

Please answer.
Thank you

yes of course you should schedule the appointment without the step 2 cs visa letter..it may in fact minimally decrease your chances of getting visa based on electives.
ur permit will take about a month to arrive, so you shd schedule the interview before getting permit.
I was in same situation, i had my visa letter for CS but didn't take it with me to the embassy.

Hope this is helpful.
