Question Typos in patient note

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to know if having a few typos esp with medical terms can cost you too much when being evaluated by the physician?

If your typing speed is average (you dont have time to correct them in the exam) but your note is otherwise adequate, will it make a big difference in your score?

Officially you shouldn't be marked negatively for having typos in the patient note as long as the term is understandable what it is.

However, there is a significant "subjective" portion of the patient note assessment. When the physician marking your PN see lots of typos he/she might be inclined to subtract points from you even though he/she might not specifically mention that the subtraction is because of typos.

This is like going to a restaurant where food was nice but the waiter was not looking good, you tend to rate that restaurant low even though the food (core content) was excellent.

So try to avoid typos as much as you can but it's OK to have few of them.
