My mistakes:
*Didnt do proper closure for 2 cases ( that is my biggest mistake)
*Few mistakes in pt notes: didnt order a holter for arrythmic case, didn't order barium series for upper gi case,
*Didnt tell the pt about physiotherapy even the pt was asking me for it just told ger about icing lolz
*I didn even know the dd for 1 phone case. That was a peads case
I do pampered the pts alottt , always asked for questions, my pn was always completed before 10 min so I got a lil time to review for mistakes in it .

Forgot to counsel on smoking in one case.
Another case had an agitated mother who I was not able to calm down
Did not tell a patient about colonoscopy, he had to ask me about it himself.

What I did do however was to take permission in all cases, before history, sensitive questions, every step of physical examination. Also gave a summary at the end of history and at the end of examination, told patient what I thought in as plain a language as possible and asked if they had any questions. I was time conscious and went straight to the relevant points in my history, exam and patient's note documentation.

All in all, I don't think it is a difficult exam, as long as you keep your nerves.

Pre-exam preparations like not being sleep deprived or hypoglycemic also helps a lot.

I forgot to tell two patients I needed to do DRE, but documented it in the PN
One case was so vague I think I misdiagnosed it
I did not do heart and lung on every patient (although I don't think it's a mistake, you don't need to do it unless it's related)
In my first case I was so nervous that I started chest exam with auscultation then remembered to inspect and palpate
In one case the SP had to repeat one word 3 times because I was not sure what it meant!
I ran out of time in one case (while doing closure), just excused myself and said I will be back.
I put only one diagnosis for one case (again I think it was appropriate based on my judgement)

What I think is important is to take a proper history, summarize, do a focused physical, counsel and do the closure. I counselled right on the spot so you don't forget it(e.g. when he tells me he is a smoker I counsel him right away not in the end), and of course, be courteous and professional.

Passed!!!
Sep. Chicago
(high performance in CIS and SEP, ICE touching borderline)

Mistakes:
misdiagnosed 2-3 cases
did not do lung and CVS exam in every case
forgot to document mental status exam in 2 cases and social history in 1 case
forgot to do few things in neurologic exam like gait and Romberg test in 2 cases, and few cranial nerves in 1-2 cases
all the patients were already draped except one who i remembered to drape right before starting physical exam.
I think I did few more mistakes which I can't remember now

However, I counseled every patient while taking history, finished every case 2-3 minutes earlier except one, finished all the patient notes on time. Had at least 4-6 diagnostic tests for each case. typed pertinent negatives in each case. Answered all the sp's questions.

Good Luck to those who are waiting for their results! Hope y'all pass!

Default And I passed

mine is way worse than any1 else.
I missed 4 obvious diagnosis. counseled only 3-4 cases, didnt summarise any1 properly

forgot 2 put back the leg rest n started the closure in 1 case. she interrupted n told me, can u put dis(pointin out da leg rest) bak? it was so embarrassin, I didnt even ask sorry(even worse).

3 ppl had tough time understandin my english, I had repeat myself 2-3 times.

I was able 2 give Sympathy & Empathy, which comes 2 me quite naturally. I was confident(& had clarity) in my interaxn, smiled friendly. My physical exam was professional. My typing is fast.
AND I PASSED

Bottom line is: even if u feel things r not going ur way, u should carryout da smile n confidence til da end. Coz if its tough 4 u, then its da same 4 every1

Took CS in Atlanta, October 16th.
Passed.

It's a huge relief too - I've a lot of money and time invested in my upcoming interviews!
