Default Hypertension and hypoventillation

Why does HYPERTENSION (high bp) cause HYPOVENTILLATION (i.e: why does stimuation of the arterial baroreceptors cause a decreased breathing rate)?
Thank you

Does it?

AFAIK, ventilation is controlled through chemoreceptors, primarily by detection of blood PCO2 levels, then by blood PO2 levels at very low concentrations.

The only mechanism I can think of is when hypertension results in a stroke that also compromises the ventilatory centers of the brain (ex. tonsillar herniation)
