Default Magoo's Step 2 CS experience

Time to give back to this forum. I've been a lurker over the past couple of months and I feel like I can be a big help to some of you as some of you were to me. Yesterday I learned that I passed my Step 2 CS exam which allows me to not only graduate on time but to get into my residency of choice. I was beyond excited when I saw Pass Pass Pass . But on to business.

This was my 2nd attempt after failing ICE on the first time. The first time I didn't support most of my dx, didn't ask associative sx, and didn't counsel on anything. On the 2nd attempt I made sure I did all of those things but I did however make other mistakes.

Here were my mistakes:
1. Was cut short on one note but only the social hx was left off.
2. Didn't order rectal exam on patient when it definitely required it
3. Didn't do any part of a neuro exam when it was pertinent to do so.
4. Didn't counsel about diet or exercise but did counsel on everything else
5. Didn't check reflexes in patient with knee problems
6. Messed up 1 dx
7. Didn't give pt a glass of water when he was coughing
8. Didn't summarize HPI on a few pt
9. Didn't ask about sexual hx on most
10. Didn't do thorough neuro exam on depressed pt (only did reflexes)
11. Didn't order orthostatics on pt when it was definitely pertinent
12. Only auscultated for heart and lungs and didn't even listen to carotids, check for pulses, or check for edema on 3 cases that required it

However I did do all the basic stuff:
- knock on the door
- say the patience name
- was polite, calm, and collected in all encounters
- my notes were strong (and I used the list form which I highly recommend)

My best advice...SUPPORT YOUR DX WITH ALL YOU CAN. And make sure your notes are organized. Errors can be made during the PE and it won't hurt your grade as bad but if you keep making the same errors in your note you will pay big time. Good luck and congrats to all those who have passed.

Congrats on passing the exam!!!
Can you plz tell me how long did you take to finish the encounters? Also I am not good at typing. I can finish only 2 DDx within the 10 min time. Do you think 2 DDx is enough? In the Usmle website practice PN, it allows to copy/paste the findings for DDx, can we do that in the exam as well?
Thanks in advance..
