I would compare my case to worst scenario possible, so I hope my experience will at least boost those who have lost hope but still have no option but to go for it.

1) I had 3 weeks in b/w my CK and CS dates
2) I had no knowledge what CS is all about, all I new was my CS date was on 24th Jan and I have one sealed Amazon box containing firstaid in my closet.
3) I had no study partner.
4) I had to plan my trip to Chicago, book hotel and all stuff in this time frame.
5) and take care of myself and my coming baby

So immediately when I was done with my CK, I tried to reach every possible person i could thrugh phone, email, fb, orkut and so on to get to know what I am going to face, but believe me NOBODY responded (this is no exaggeration). The only help I got was from this forum..thanx
so my first step was to get familiar with exam process for wich I read first few pages of FIRSTAID and saw video of orientation material on website.

After getting lil oriented I did my first reading of FIRSTAID and during that I practiced writing Patient Notes as much as i could in timed manner.

Then did second reading ,this time in a way like reading one case e.g. of abdominal pain completely (history ,exam,DD,lab and everything from last 2 units of firstaid)

And then did 3rd reading, this time made notes(not that elaborate )just 1 page protocol, what not to miss in history and exam of particular case. i mean focused, as everybody remembers general protocol but what is important is certain specific thing that help to rule out or in diagnosis.

Then I was left with few days in which I subscribed for UWORLD, and did go thru that+ did practice some cases on my own. as i had no study partner.

Then my exam was in Chicago, believe me among 25 students I was the only FMG, and only student who wrote PN, all were typing and so tension free that made my situation worst . but I didn't lose hope

I had 12 patient encounters , believe me in 3 cases I couldn't even come to know wats going on wth them..no clue of Dx. but i followed complete protocol given in firstaid without freaking out and jus wrote my approximate Dx.

Wat helped me most in managing time was doorway info, believe me giving some time at door helps a lot inside room. in every case I wrote name of pt. any abnormal vitals if any otherwise didn't bother to note them (WNL) and wrote CC. with CC I quickly noted down DD, so that inside I was focused what to ask and what things to rule out, this really helped in getting flow and being focused + off coarse u need to ask PAM HUGGS FOSS.
I will not say I did perfect but i messed in certain cases horribly , but what i tried was to follow the protocol and keep urself calm and cool and think about 1 case at a time

Now since i passed i could share this but believe me when there is hard time never loose hope ,give your 100% ,never be overconfident, its not only ur proficiency and communication, it is amalgamation of all , as we have to pass all 3 not jus 1 section
I wish others best of luck.....

@nounao4o4... I did keep my conversation flowing throughout encounter but I dnt explain them the finding but jus what i was going to do.. like I am going to look into ur eyes , now your ears, I am going to untie knot of gown, listen to ur lungs ,listen to ur heart ,is it fine wth you.....etc etc. and keep saying thankyou and sorry at appropriate times..... that is wat I did.

@Dr Sherini..

Wish u all the best.I know freaking out is normal,as i said i was also in very bad situation ,and frankly speaking I have done my graduation from a place where we dont even treat patients as humans ,we do wat we have to and patient has no saying nor any right to even revoke.. we were very rude. but I wont say we were bad but overload of patient force us to do that. 100 pts in an hour or so.
But believe me you dont have to act, just be natural ,empathetic and follow points in Firstaid. they help a lot.. U just have to be humanely.the SPs are very good, and once you know wat to do u will feel comfortable.
I didnt even do complete examination in 7 cases.
And also focuss on differential diagnosis, U shud know DD of every complaint that saves ur time in thinking and keeps ur flow going and focussed..

lastly u gain a lot from forum so browse thru old posts , there is lot of material that helps..
All the best:)

@ Dr Sherani.
definitely Ck Helps a lot in CS.... as my CS was 3weeks after CK so i had to focus mainy on communication part and other protocol...

but still it depends also on when u r applying so u have to schedule exm in that way...definitely will need a lil more effort but i hope it is ok if you take any in any order.. you have to be sure you know wat u r dealing with e.g. in case of headache u shud know types of headache ,how each present ,signs and symptoms ,so that u can ask questions and m ake ur diagnosis

all the best
