Hi all ,
i took cs on 14th april in philly . I am writing a little on my exam experience .
I studied from fa and core cases with a study partner . We worked together for 4 wks , 6 -7 hrs a day .we practiced in timed mode from the very beginning . Took usmle goldworkshop in ny , which helped us in a lot of ways. Didn't take cse or uw .
The day of the exam: Philly center is great.the procters were friendly and we had a lot of imgs on that day . The exam went really fast. We had five cases , 1/2 hr lunch break ,4 cases,15 min snack time ,then 3 cases.
My mistakes :
- first case i was nervous . I missed doing an important exam ,didn't give the patient most likely diagnoses and tests i would do for it. I realized it right after i walked out of the room.put down the diagnosis in patient note though.
- 2nd case was easy but i missed asking the patient a v. Relevant question. All the rest was fine with respect to exam, councelling and closing but my patient note suffered b/c of the missing information.
-all the other cases went fairly well .
I did get out of time in 2 of the cases so couldn't ask them for challenging questions , missed on councelling in 1 or 2 cases , missed writing the physical exam in one of the patient notes although i did write them in the diff.diagnoses section.
All in all , it wasn't that bad . Wish it had gone better if i had stayed calm and composed in the first 2 cases.
Advice for this exam is to read mini cases in fa, have a study partner , get hold of ur nerves before the exam ( the cases are not hard ) and be in control as u are the doctor the patient should trust and confide in . Best of luck everyone. Sese
