I agree with accurate
There's no best center to pass
In fact, if the NBME realized that there's a center that is passing significantly more than others, they'd sure investigate the matter and perhaps have your results revoked.

The best center is the center where your friends have taken the exam few days before. They will tell you the cases

Philadelphia is tough for IMGs or FMGs because most of AMGs from NY ... choose philadelphia ... and NY has high number medical schools means more AMGs ....

Philly is the center where most IMGs take the exam and therefore the officials are trying to change the cases frequently there because they know that IMGs spread the news about the cases there

most flights go to Chicago first then a transit to where you want

i will choose Chicago because of that

only one flight to there

but i will choose Houston cause it is very cheap compare to other cities if i want to stay for a week or so or might take electives and then do the exams

what do you think

I've taken the test in LA and I passed. The SPs there are super friendly and you won't have issues.
The only problem is that rent in LA is little bit more expensive than Chicago.

Default What's wrong with the Atlanta center?

Why the low rating with the Atlanta center?
Can someone explain the reason why it is not so liked?
I have already booked my test there.

I have heard that LA is difficult.....I know people who passed in first attempt at Atlanta, Philly, Chicago. May be its subjective.......but I think it doesnt really matters where u give the exam. Just preparing enough for exam is all what matters.

Default LA center

Hello,

I will be going to the LA center. Does anyone know any good experiences from that center? So far I have only heard bad experiences. It can't be that bad, can it? I haven't been able to change my date.

I passed the test in LA, it's not bad. The poll above is misleading.

Help USMLE Step 2 CS Center Chicago

Why do most IMGs prefer to take CS exam in Chicago center?
Is there any reason that this center has some benefits among all other centers?

i dont know if other IMGs think the way i did, but the reason why i chose chicago is that, among the available cities, chicago and LA are the most interesting ones for me... but LA is too far away from where im leaving... and when i think of LA i dont think of buses and trains, and i cant afford that much now...
the rest (atlanta, philly and houston) sound pretty boring for me...

when you are forced to travel somewhere, and in my case, that i love to travel and know different places, different cultures and different gastronomy, since I HAVE TO travel anyway, i choose a place where i can stay a couple of days more and relax... anyway the 2 way airplane ticket has to be bought and as a minimum you will stay there fr 2 days, it doesnt make much a difference if you stay 5-7 days and actually realize you were somewhere else

it would be weird to say: "ive been in chicago... but i only know the airport and a test center... and i recommend/advice against "X" hotel..."<---

How is the Houston Center when it comes to passing rates? Also is Houston a cheaper city compared to LA and Atlanta? Would it make a big differrence if one stays for 5-6 days?

i don't know about the other cities but definitely chicago center is within 3miles from the airport and the hotels nearby have free shuttle services... and the same shuttle services will take you to the test center if you don't wanna walk 2-3 minutes

Default At what center to take CS

Hi All,
I am planning to take the exam in couple of month and scheduled it in Phil but did some research on couple of Forums regarding the rating of test centers. I have a double mind now at what center to take the exam.
I am a foreign medical graduate and I am curios if this is matter where to take the exam.
I reviewed the poll but it is too small. Does anyone have more personal experience?
I want the fresh thoughts about it.

Default No best center

As a US Citizen I strongly doubt that any test center is the best. It does not matter where you take the exam as long as you prepare well. What does matter is to chose the center that is closest to you for convenience sake, not for any other reason.

It's not perception

The SPs are humans. In Huston and Chicago the faced many IMGs and they compare them to other IMGs. They adapt the accents and behaviors. But in Philly with no many IMGs they do not have experience with many accents and you would be compared with AMGs.
Many Japanese friends prefer to take the exam in LA because of this reason
( SPs are familiar with their accents because of high percentage of Japanese examinees).

Despite that I know many IMGs who passed in Philly and Many who failed in Chicago.

Default Philly isn't a good coice for iMGs

I know a friend, who doesn't have an accent even though she's not a US national and has a 109 on TOEFL but failed the exam in the CIS portion at Philladelphia despite passing the mock exam with flying colours. She was shocked since she felt she was just initially nervous and messed up with the first 2 patients. But she does remember that there were only 2 other IMGs at her centre. 3 out of 24 IMGs is definitely a poor ratio and so. . .I'm taking the exam in Chicago.
I have a friend who stuggles with grammar and gave his exam in Houston. Passed in first attempt.

good luck to all.

I am an IMG from India but I lived in USA before for 5 years. I took the exam in Philadelphia. The exam center, the SPs and the staff were very nice and I thought the exam was easy. I got high performance in all three categories.

I do not think that exam center really matters for CS. Maybe for those with difficult accents, Houston maybe better because those SPs are used to hearing people with different accents. But otherwise, it doesn't matter.

I trust the USMLE as a standardized exam and you should take the exam where it is convenient for you.
