Default Passes Step 3 my two dimes experience...

I have just seen my results and thought that I should share my experience just in case it might help/motivate anyone. I took step 2CK June, 2013.

I prepared for six month in and about doing a multitude of other things. My initial plan was to sit in June but thought that I was not ready.

I read through Master the Board then I did Kaplan Q bank test mode all questions mixed up and completed with an average of 65.

I did the UW Qbank test mode all qn first round after all the qns I had an average of 63 which is 65 percentile. I read through the reviews how people are reporting upper 70 and 80s felt a bit scared but decided to tackle my fears. I repeated all the qns I had got wrong and scored an average of mid eighties and took my average to 72% which is 87th percentile

I went through the UW CCS cases Once and then repeated the even number cases....I did not go through all cases the second time.

I took UW assessment test and score 221 three weeks before the exam. Ten days before I took NBME and score 570 this is the newer version of NBME, I could not find corresponding three digits score.

Day 1 it was rough. The questions were corned, I saw a lot of step 1 qns I am very good in research that is what I do but the drug adds were crazy, hard long titles, so much information and the qns soo much crazy. I was tired and thought this is it...I will have to start all over again. Went home slept well and presented myself for day 2.

Day 2 the MCQs were not as hard as day one I did not get any drug adds. The CCS cases were very easy and straight forward. With exception of one short cases all my cases ended between 9 and 12 minutes out of the 20 allocated, I took as much break as I could and still had 50 minutes of break when I was done. I wished I had used all my break time during the MCQs to get a fresh perspective every block....

At the end of the day I passed my score is 225. I have 236 for step 1 237 for CK. I wanted 240 for Step 3 but you know what the way I was scared on day one I would have taken even 192 if was put on the table.

Keep working guys. My USMLE series is done and I am on the market to court for a residence position.....

Thank you to everyone who has shared their experience, sometimes it is intimidating but believe it kept me going.

God bless you
