Default Need your precious advice guys.. Please reply.

Hi friends...i am a student from india..and finished my internship last month.
i have been studying for usmle since past 1 month and so far it has been going smooth.
But yesterday i talked to my senior who already got matched for a residency program and it really depressed me.
because he asked me the following -
Did i do electives - i said no.
Did i do any research work - I said no.
Am i currently working anywhere - No.

He told me then my CV would be rather weak and asked me to clear the steps as soon as possible and get matched...
But i feel i really need 7-8 months to prepare for step 1.
Please tell me if i take this big a gap after internship without working, would those people consider it as a bad profile?(he said u need to have a strong profile as only 50% IMGs match)

please frankly suggest me how good my chances would be of getting matched.
please tell me frankly coz i dont want to spend my time and money on something in which the chances of getting through are meagre.
PLEASE REPLY GUYS...IT WILL REALLY HELP ME.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

When did you graduate? When do you want to apply? Where are you? Do you have a VISA?
In my opinion 2 things are really important:
1) No gaps in your CV - you should try to do something, an observership or a research project from.... asap actually... until the match
2) good scores

I'm confused. I guess your idea is to apply for 2016, right? So in this case you have time to work on your CV in terms of experience and on your exams.

Good luck
