It was a difficult exam. But I am hoping that I pass it at least, would be able to elaborate more once I have the score

It took me around seven weeks. I did both MTBs 2 and 3 for Internal Medicine and MTB 3 for the remaining specialties. And then I did Uworld for both the Mcqs and CCS. I think MTBs and Uworld will prepare you adequately for the exam. If you have any specific question regarding anything, let me know and I would be happy to help.

Hi stepper1234! Congrats with your result.
My exam is in few days, did UWSA and got 238. I am curious about correlation between UWSA and Step 3 exam. If you don't mind could you please share your Uworld assessment score and how is it correlated to real exam?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gikson. I had a 250 on my uwsa. Majority of the test takers get a score 10-15 less than the one they got on uwsa. I was no exception. But to be honest, it just matters on how you perform on the exam day. I have seen people getting more than, equal to and a lot less than the uwsa score. So it varies. I would say 238 is a pretty good and a safe score to go ahead with the exam. Hope that answers your question.

Biostats is tested on Day 1 only. You will have either an abstract or a drug add in every block (3 questions). In addition to that, you will have 3-4 more questions on biostats. My performance on biostats was just above borderline although I was pretty good at it. So I would say that the biostats component is a bit tough. I just did uworld for it so can't comment much on other resources. If you have done uworld thoroughly, you will have no problem passing it. And since you have the exam next week, I would just recommend revising uworld rather than trying some new resource. Hope this helps and all the best.

thanks a lot... i am also thinking about going through uworld only....so according to you biostat is like 7-8 questions per block...which is fine i guess....I asked this guy and he just told me it is about 40% of the exam....and how about behavioral??what would you recommend????

Yup, 7-8 questions per block. 40% is a bit of an exagerration lol.

Again, I just used MTBs and Uworld so these are the only resources I can recommend. A lot of behavioral questions end up being answered by making an educated guess unfortunately.

How was the time management? I have read somewhere on this forum that questions are very long and vague. I did not have any time problem with Uworld though, but I am worried a little bit.

And what about CCS? Is the Uworld enough? My exam is next week as well.

Time management was okay I guess, not perfect by any means but not too bad either. Bottomline: it was doable.

Uworld is more than enough for ccs. Just know the software really well. Practicing 52 simulated cases and reading 41 cases given as a separate handout in uworld would prepare you pretty nicely. I had an above average to high performance in ccs just by doing uworld.

Hi. How did you prepare for the basic sciences component? Was it very hard?

Basic sciences component in step 3 does not mean that you would be asked anatomy, physiology, biochemistry etc. The questions were still clinical so I did not prepare anything extra for basic sciences, just did MTBs and Uworld. The only noticeable difference I would say on day 1 is an increase in number of biostats/epidemiology/behavioral questions. That is what I have been hearing from other people and experienced myself as well, that you do not need to pick up step 1 stuff to prepare for basic sciences component because that would not be tested.
