Many factors play role

I did not really understand your question

You want to take Step 3 in August here in USA. You are asking whether you should stay until the interviews (Dec 2010-Jan 2011) or to return to your country and then come back for the interviews.

Did I get your question right?

Well, it depends on several factors:

  • Are you going to miss some important job/work back in your home country? then in that case it's better your return.
  • Are you going to spend money here in the US like rentals, transportation, ...etc then it's better you return.
  • God forbid, you may not get any interviews so why to waste your time staying in US! then it's better you return.
  • You may utilize your presence in USA in doing observerships or externships or research getting American LORs in preparation for the match and in that case you better stay.
Weigh all these factors and see what's best for you.

Thanks a ton

You got the question absolutely right and as u said, i need to consider all those factors and decide on my stay.

The reason for the confusion was that someone told me that i need to be there for the match and to sign papers and stuff, if i get thru a residency.

However, yes maybe i can try for an observer post or a research paper would help.

Thanks very much.
