This is from usmle.org:

"Because of the changes, as well as routine modifications to the test item pool, there will be a delay in score reporting for most Step 3 examinations administered from mid-February 2012 through early May 2012. The target date for reporting Step 3 scores for most examinees testing during that interval will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012."

After receiving the score, you can apply for H-1B. With standard processing, USCIS generally takes at least 4-6 months to process an H-1B petition and issue an approval ($325.00 Basic Filing Fee - This fee is required for ALL H-1B petitions)

An expedited “premium processing” option is offered by USCIS for H-1B petitions. The cost is $1225.00, the burden of which is on the individual to pay; but the benefit, with urgent cases, is that USCIS will adjudicate the petition within 15 business days, as opposed to several months.

Good luck!

Hi Bebix,

Thanks for replying. But this is not the same as the deadline of Step 3 result to be eligible for H1-B.

Will we need Step 3 scores at the time of interview to get sponsored for H1?

Thanks

that's what I'm saying...there is not really a "deadline"...for example, in my case, Im gonna take the step 3 next month, and then Im gonna pay the premium fee (reporting Step 3 scores issue this year) in order to get my H1B to start this July. Each university has its own "visa policy".

Good luck!

Generally step 3 pass score is required by the match day for the program to consider sponsoring your H1 visa
