Help Need Help to Test Readiness, 3 Weeks to Go

Hi all,

I did UW first time, timed mixed, got 55%. I took UWSA only to get 190!
Did NBME form 2, I got 280 which I don't think is even a pass!

So I stopped everything and cancelled my appointment, took a month off everything (No studying, No solving), then came back a second time to UW, mixed timed, I got 69%..I hadn't seen the answers of UWSA the first time I took it so I decided to take it again today, got 213. I don't know if I should I take the NBME again, or take form 1, or just drop this idea all together.

My exam is in 3 weeks and I don't think I can postpone it this time. I need your help guys to assess whether I am ready or not.

Thanks in advance and all help is highly appreciated.

My cousin "Aussie guy" who lives with us took UWSA and NBME with scores of 470 and 450 respectively,he was uncomfortable with his scores,he has postponed his exam.
I am of view it's your own judgement,if you are comfortable you should go ahead,if not you should decide against it.Having said this these tests are a fair idea for our projected performances, but many times results are totally opposite to what we did in practice tests eg.someone can score really good in real exam even with low scores on NBME,but many say it gives you fair idea of your performance in real test.
It's only you who has to decide. If you are applying for univ programs and don't need visa, then step3 is not important and low score or failure can jeopardise your chances. If u r an IMG in need of visa and applying for not so cool community programs step3 is also important, but again at least avg score helps. That's what I have learnt from various people and have shared with you.

DO not take it, you are clearly not ready.
These scores tell you this.

You may just have to study another 90 days

Can you devote 3 to 4 days a week steady at reading and doing Questions?
UW is out you have done it twice, pick up Kaplan its about 180 till you pass and has about 1000 S3 Qs

Does 213 on UWSA badly say you are not ready? What is the average?

I thought the average was around 260?

NBME is more accurate

260!! Man, are you sure? this is very high, it can't be the average!
Or are we speaking about different scoring systems??
I got 213 as a prediction to the real thing..

Look at this: NBME, UWSA, Qbanks Averages, Correlation with Real Step 3 Exam Score
I'm studying myself and haven't taken UWSE yet (not planning on doing NBME actually) but that thread is probably more realistic...
I wish I would get 260 ...

Oh sorry I guess I was confused over the scoring

Still do you truly feel ready? I understand the problems with only one NBME

OK, I read those threads in the past and fond out one thing........I'm not one of these people myself

I was around 70 to 76% on USMLE W Q for step one and did not pass the real thing.........Until I was able to do about 510 on NBME

I think some people can be wrong most of the time on UW and still do well while others like me need to be right most of the time to do well

Which are you?

My performance on step 1 and 2 CK was pretty much comparable to UW and to UWSE. I know more or less where I am good at and where I am not good at, it always seems to be the same....
But I'm also one of those persons who probably would freak out if I had to postpone multiple times, there's a moment when I probably wouldn't be doing much more even if postponing but that's me. Everybody's different there, and I agree that it depends on why you're doing step 3 now.
If you need the visa, you want your application complete ASAP.
If you don't need the visa (my case) then it doesn't matter if it's now or later. Still, I want to have step 3 out of the way for different reasons and already registered for it. In my case, the pressure of knowing that I have to be prepared soon helps. Once again, that's all very personal.

Yes I see, I do not need a Visa so I'm in a different place, applying without Step 3:sorry:
