I always feel its your own individual preparedness which makes you decide how to approach Qbanks. In step 1 and 2 I always started in tutor mode as I felt my knowledge base was inadequate.Even in step3 I started with tutor mode in Kaplan Qbank and later I started UW Qbank in timed mode because I had my CK knowledge and Kaplan Qbank behind me.Therefore I am not sure how to guide you,but would suggest you to assess your preparedness and then decide.Personally.Overall it should be that you get good idea and knowledge from these Qbanks..........hope this helps

Default Experience.

Even I was looking for experiences for the Step 3. Just starting my prep now. From what I have gathered after some searching your prep depends on what your goal is. If you just want to pass (like me) I plan to do:

1. Kaplan Videos (As needed, on topics I feel I am week)
2. MTB 3 + MTB 2 (Since I just gave step 2 ck in November'12)
3. Uworld for CCS + Qbank + UWSA.
4. NBME

That's my plan. Study time probably 3 months. If you want a good score, I would suggest supplementing the above with Archer's lecture notes + cases.

Looking for Study partners who are just starting with the prep and looking to give the exam in a similar time frame as me.

Skype: Niksamtani
Twitter: @DrNikhilSamtani - I tweet HY stuff I come across.

Get in touch whoever is interested All the best to all.

Nik.

Thumbs Down

Day 1: exhausting! Mcqs seemed vague and Lots of topics were not covered in Uworld.
Day 2: Mcqs were to the point and short and easy. The cases were scary. Some ended before the patient recOvered. One ended after the patient got worse!!! I have my fingers crossed.
Duration of Prep: 3 weeks
Material: MTB 2 for IM, MTB 3 for the rest. Uworld for Mcqs and ccs
Uworld: 65 Timed, half subjectwise, half random.
Uwsa score: 590
NBME score: 600
Real exam: ????!!!!

lots of weird questions..very long ones. lots of them with 2 acceptable answers..
at ccs basicly when I advanced the clock to see results& see whether the pt is improving, it said case ends in 2 minutes [there was plenty of allotted time left]. so I was unable to carry out treatment, do followup, discharge, change meds iv to po, counsel...but it always happened after i found the diagnosis and ordered the [hopefully] appropriate tests, so I hope it is normal..:sorry:
