Arrow Time to revive Step 3 Forum

Hi all fellow forum members, this post is intended to revive this forum which by the looks of it it is pretty much dead... to Anomali, Hitman, K6100 and others who are already studying or plan to start studying soon, lets start putting study plans and clinical vignettes so that we tackle this last monster and get rid of USMLE nightmare forever!

I'll share my study plan.

Already began stdying with Kaplan Lecture Notes Step 3, will plan to finish those in 2 months+ the videos, then will do my best to finish Archer High Yield Review.. After those I plan to subscribe to Kaplan Qbank so that I study that side by side with MTB3 (Kaplan qbank has direct links to MTB3, so its a good tool to cram and understand MTB3) Then I will use Uworld question bank and CCS software (Along with Archers CCS review).

My Step 3 goal is above 240; want to have a good score just for the sake of it and because I like to have high standards!

Happy studying people!

Wow! Pretty ambitious and good plan you have!

I just want to take this exam ASAP and since I work full time I will limit my resources to UW qbanks + MTB 3 + Archers CCS review). Yeah, let's revive this step 3 forum and help each other on this final step!

In my case nope, I dont know of any other good sources.. And I plan to keep it simple, if I grab to many sources then I will feel overwhelmed and that is not a good idea.

Ok I see it now; that's the one that costs $245, right? I think I will do only the CCS one but will see. Let me know how do you like it once you start it.

Are you going to do UW questions simultaneously with Archer's course? I want to do UW and watch the lectures at the same time.

Nope, Uworld I will do last, I always like to leave it 1 month before my test date because it has been the closest to my exams in step 1 and step 2 ck, so i will apply the same formula here..

I'll start with Kaplan Qbank and MTB3

Default I will ask a stupid question now

sorry if this has been answered before but I did try to look for the answer before asking to no success.

In the CID; Certification of Identification form, there is a space that says "SSN"... Well I dont have a social security number so what should I put here? should I leave it blank?

Good to see you here too anomali!

Ill also do my exam in august/september, will have to see...

The hours is the amount of time you can watch the videos online.. including playback, so according to my understanding 50 hrs would allow you more time to review any given video in which you dont feel safe..

I like your plan! I have always liked to use Kaplan lecture notes.. but I will use them just to rebuild some foundation of CK, I had a pretty good score in CK so that wont take me a lot of time...

The reason I want to use Kaplan Qbank in this step is because it has direct links to MTB3 and the questions are written by Conrad Fischer .. I will also use uworld but I will leave that to the end.

Lets rock and roll people!

Good to see some activity on this forum. Plan to start with Kaplan books and videos and then take it from there. I just had a query. I am done with step1, 2 and CS. But my form 327A verification is still pending. My college has sent it back to ECFMG but they are in still in the process of verifying it. So will ECFMG send the ECFMG certification thing as soon as they verify it or do I have to apply for that?
N I'll be able to apply for step 3 only after that? Right?
Let's get started people

Default step 3 application and eligibility

I just saw in another forum that when you apply for step 3 you cannot choose your 3 month eligibility period! They choose it for you! Now I don't know if I should start my application right away or wait until I'm almost ready to take the exam and then start it.
If you guys find anything else about it please post here.

I'm about to start studying for it as well. I'm in the "shopping" phase right now. I read from this thread that most of you will be using mtb 3. Is fa not recommended? Im wondering since i used fa for the first 2 steps and i found it ok.

Is it true that IMGs can take step 3 only in certain states only. For eg, can I take this exam in Philly or Alaska as these states have certain requirements before you sit for step 3

I read about that too. We should apply in states with no reqmnts. Ive read it doesnt matter what state you apply to as long as you are eligible there

I'm shooting for July so I will keep my plan simple: MTB 3, Archer CCS, UW MCQ and CCS. I used MTB 3 for CK so I believe it will be easier to go through it again.

Let's all keep this forum active guys!

even i heard the same, we do not get to choose the eligibility period.I think it starts when your application is processed and accepted.

I would first complete most of my study and then start applying.

What I would do (havent reached that part yet) I would first read the power point by myself, taking relevant notes and THEN I would watch the video.. you see is like when you were in medical school, going to class having read the topic BEFORE actually improves your learning and the amount of information you have...

Thats how I studied for med school, step 1 and step 2 ck.. Will do the same for step 3.
