Question Fail Step 3 and get fired from residency?

Hi,

Can a residency program kick you out, if you fail step 3?

In my program, passing step 3 is a must to join 3rd yr. If you fail, you have to wait one year to re-join after passing it. Didn't hear about being kicked out though..

Edit: Actually, that resident was kicked out after failing step 3 >1 time.
