Experiences MY step 3 experience - gratitude to this forum

Hey guys,
never did this before but as part of gratitude towards this forum and many more previous applicants whose experiences were useful during my USMLE journey, I am trying this adventure of writing my step 3 experience

OKAY - my prep time was 3 months but actual study begun in last 2 months as I was busy with observerships/ ERAS application and interview prep

STUDY MATERIAL- MASTER THE BOARD
U WORLD Q BANK Both MCQs and CCS
OTHER STUFF at forums such as Neeraj step 3 notes/ CHIEF'S WEEKLY VIDEOS BY KAPLAN TO BRUSH UP THE BASICS FROM STEP 2CK(TOOK A WHILE AGO)-Dr. Sonpal -motivating to study

Guidance from previous step takers on forum.

All you need is practice and revision atleast TWICE of whatever material you find suitable to you.

Those who have passed step 2ck recently are at advantage but even if its been a while you have taken it no problem.. just revise the frequently asked topics from your ck notes.

CCS- UWORLD IS MORE THAN SUFFICIENT-- READ EVERY CASE CAREFULLY AND PRACTICE SOFTWARE AS MANY TIMES AS YOU CAN TO ACHIEVE THE MASTERY. Day two is very cool

Drug Add questions are really time consuming but rest of the exam is combo of all the knowledge you have gained so far through out the USMLE steps prep .

I beat the nbme form 3 practice exam score which I took 2 weeks prior to exam just got passing score .. DID VIGOROUS REVSION OF MTB and UWORLD
NBME is predictive but beatable as well
GOT FINAL SCORE OF - 222/ PASS
Happy that journey of USMLE ended with nice memories
NOW ON THE ROADS TO RESIDENCY..REAL JOURNEY HAS BEGUN
WISH YOU GOOD LUCK FOR THOSE READING THIS POST AND APPLYING FOR RESIDENCY/FELLOWSHIP IN THE DREAM LAND

ps: those who have access to UpToDate ( those doing observership in university programs in USA) AND HAVE ENOUGH TIME FOR STEP3 ..Utilize the tool. As I have started using it recently I realized many of the recent guidelines being asked on exam are mentioned there precisely. Definitely beneficial for IMGs..

Hey Nisha, Thanks for kind words I feel it depends on your grasp on the time management n prep. if you have done read out cases thoroughly you can do it in 1 month easily.
once you are familiar with all the cases( most commonly asked ) n know the tricks of approach to case management/follow up/screening/referrals; it is the most easy part of exam and will boost the score. During my last 2 weeks of prep I used to do cases for half of the study time and MTB3 n q bank for rest half, that way I could keep myself speedy enough to revise it at least twice.
I have not used MTB2 but MTB3 and read guidelines for screening/treatment from ACP guideline online( read to the point/ summary)and notes of ck ( from Kaplan/ first aid). but if you can, it will be definitely worth.( need not have to read everything) also look up the errata of MTB3 AVAILABLE ONLINE and correct as you read.
I revised biostatistics/epidemiology part from first aid step1. also look up for clinical features of autosomal trisomies( eg. baby with holoprosencephaly and cleft lip- Patau..trisomy 13) just not miss the easy two-three liner QUESTIONS( high chances to forget till the day of step 3 arrive)
GOOD LUCK! DO GREAT ON EXAMS
its too long but hope it helps to you and other silent readers( I was the one)
