I am basically in the initial stage of preparing for USMLE step 1 and in almost last prof of medical school. I am going to start a whatsapp group for people who are also planning to take USMLE step 1 later in around 2016 or 17 and we will basically discuss what things we need to do in time to have freaking application for the match eventually. AND I am really serious about it. We will discuss questions and concepts that are difficult to comprehend. Basically everything. So anyone who is in the initial stage of preparing for the MLE exam 2016-17 is most welcome to join the group. Hi all.
I found usmle-forum really helpful for people like me who have less exposures.

I finished my internship in sep,2013. I failed in 1st year.And I passed the rest of years in casual batch with 1st attempt. I am working as JR in surgery after being graduated.

I want to give USMLE exams from the beginning. bt I was afraid of giving bcuz of my 1st year failure. Even my friends told me that USMLE is not for students like us.

Pls help me..my queries are

1. Can I appear for USMLE all steps with 2-3 year gape after my mbbs?
2. To get the residency, Do they consider usmle steps marks only??
If they consider the academics of mbbs,Is there any chance for me to get the residency?
3. How many problems I m gonna face till the end of my usmle residency
because of my 1st year failure???

Plz help !!! I need complete guidance.. I have given AIPGMEE 2 times bt not qualified. My seniors advised me to give USMLE as it is easy and
logical than AIPGMEE.

But the door of USMLE open for students like me????

1. Yes, you can appear in usmle with that much gap.
2. No they don't look at your academics. Step 1 score is the most imp thing they look at
3. Yes of course, to get residency there is an interplay of many things like how long you have done research in the specialty you want, how good your letter of recommendations are. Failure from from 1st year med school shouldn't demotivate you from appearing for usmle. Don't listen to what other people are telling you to do. You won't face no problem if you are a good applicant with good usmle step scores, solid research work, USCE from university hospitals and if you have good contacts.

I am 25 year old.Currently working as JR in surgery dept since last 1 year. want to settle down in USA.
I will give usmle.bt for a backup I want to do MPH incase I failed in any step or residency interview.


Plz help me to select the better option from below 2 :

1) Going USA to study Mph in JAN 16 intake & preparing for usmlestep 1
simultaneously.
If preparing simultaneously how much time I required for
step 1,2 ck and cs???????

2) Prepare for step 1 in india.Give step 1 in india and then going to USA
to study Mph in SEP 16 intake.
- With this option Time required for step 1 with job/without job
- Should I left job to prepare for step 1?

Many advised me to enter in JAN 2016 intake as i m already 25 year old.
they said if u failed in usmle journey, u can settle down early in USA by passing MPh early. so u should reach there first and prepare for both simultaneously.

Please give ur expert advise.
