if you want to go for clinical experience, try for externship which gives hands-on experience and also provide strong LORs

no its not true... because my senior has gained the experience with this agency and have got strong LORs... which is more useful for the Match. Program Directors will only see you having gaining strong experience

I randomly came across a virtual medical clerkship page on Facebook. Seemed interesting and decided to see what this virtual clerkship is all about since I’m just sitting at home and unable to continue rotations because of COVID. I messaged them and they give me details on how the virtual clerkship actually works. I figured this would be more like telemedicine where the patient is at home and the attending is either at the office or at home and they just meetup over the laptop or phone.
So turns out that the attending is seeing patients either at the clinics (outpatient) or at the hospital (inpatient) all of it in person with the student virtually present with them. The student gets to see patients, round on patients, interview patients, discuss a management plan with the attending, and then the student actually gets to discuss the plan with the patient.

There’s a website too, took some time trying to google them and see if it’s legit or not but I finally found it
https://www.teleclerkships.com/

So I signed up for one of their rotations, Obesity & Wellness Medicine. I was unsure how my experience would be and just wanted to give it a shot since I was told that it would be from my own home and that I wouldn’t have to travel and look for housing/lodging, etc.

I had a great time during that rotation and learned a tonn from the attending. Who knew Obesity and Wellness Medicine would be so exciting.

I loved it so much that I just signed up for a virtual radiology rotation with them. I was told that they are setting up new rotations such as internal medicine, nephrology, and cardiology. Can’t wait to sign up for all of these.

I want to utilize this time and save money by not having to travel to a different city and pay for short term rent/housing when I can do all of these rotations from my own room.
Now with COVID cases spiking back up again it’s definitely not worth going to a new city for a short amount of time and risk getting exposed and sick.
