Hey guys its been first week of interviews in my program and really nice to meet some of you coming on interview Keep it up!!!

and my advice is don't try to be super annoying and super active on morning reports, grand rounds etc.. meaning dont annoy residents grand round presenters with too much of the questions. you don't wanna be the one to be remmebered that way

be moderate answer if asked or just randomly stand up with appropriate answer but again keep questions mainly when interacting with chiefs, other residents to be able to keep upthe conversation. have questions for the program. because thats what gonna be main part of interview questions questions so people in the programs can give you answers.

Hey guys again great to meet you at interviews, i dont remember if i mentioned make sure you set up LinkedIn account with normal looking head shot do not use your terrible passport photos

I still managed to help some friends to get interviews through linkedin contacts and I myself have couple great colleague friends. you can find me there too. if you want to get in touch.

good luck everyone and dont forget to send second and third cycle emails to programs. now is when interview cancelations start.

Hi tamta

249/242/1st attempt/passed step 3 (score passing) 2 us LORs , 2 home country, YOG 2009. a gap in my CV. have been doing something over past year to overcome it.

goals of care discussions and inability to decide how to proceed dt patients wishes different form live kids/family these are like real every day things
non STE MI cath versus no cath

SGLT2 inhibitors causing metabolic acidosis ketosis

no I actually want to ask about post interview communication. Sorry I think I wasn't clear. and regarding cancellations I meant would it be reasonable to reach out to programs who haven't sent the invite, or it is too late now.

re confirm your interest in the program i would not go into mentioning ranking high blbalabla most people do but i would just say im interested in your program your faculty thank you for your time to interview me and hope to have a chance to work with you and prove my professionalism and personality..

just remembered i posted this before but for those who might not know check out these sites for vacancies and some research opportunities:

https://www.ama-assn.org/life-career...ship-positions

http://apds.org/education-careers/open-positions/

how was overall experience for you guys, this year? did you match where are you all going which specialties, which states

aside from all the poor candidates who got hold back due to visa issues overall it seems a good year for IMGs with gradual increment.

but its terrible imagining hoe many syrians, iraqi and all those 7 country people got just simply stuck.

per my logic people with green cards got more and more chances to match as i saw people with lower scores but green card match, also huge graduation years, i would not just attribute to green card, but i think programs feel more and more comfortable and prioritize green card somehow. just my feeling. but htis does not mean anything. nor change anything. maybe caribbean american citizens have slightly more chances than they had before.

Be careful with your co resident be standardized. if you are beautiful dont dress too nicely
do MKSAP questions, get step 3 off the way before starting and it will make u clinically strong. dont be afraid to read EKG systematic fashion from very first morning report. dont be afraid to answer with ambivalent or incorrect answers as long as u think logically thru in your answers. go to morning reports and noon conferences. write notes early. dont overwrite progress notes to seem smart. get them done in time. Ill spend some time to filter my intern notes and post one day. just be sure u know few pressor actions. and acid base and nephrology
u will realize things u know are more then enough and dont get disappointed with routine. accept it. any specialty anything in medicine comes down to routine.

in icu be very oriented to details and everywhere own your patients information.dont let ur co residents get advantage of you by gathering info from consultunts when ur busy doing something for ur other patient.

caribbean graduates have special manners of showing off themselves dont get annoyed on that. u can learn few.

i have only followed few of these things like writing notes in time (even early and trying to know most about my patient. and yes make sure u really pre round and see all patients even if quickly. dont even get into discussion with nurses. if you are not a good looking guy you might even need to put some efforts and be overly nice to ICU nurses especially. i dont know ask what else and i might have more ideas

just first few months are crucial until u establish yourself as you are who you are and if you are reliable. so yes put lot of efforts in first few months and work hard. and make sure you dont dont be inflexible with very casual routine work relaionship with senior residents co interns attendings. its all that matters what some annoyed resident intern attending complains or praises about you. shortly you will be back in high school and trust me i am talking form an experience of very super benign program where there is no favoritism and program director is amazing person filtering all the minuscule complains he gets on daily basis. people chat chat chat as everywhere back in our countries. s o just make sure you stand strong and have your prioritis straight. hard work good knowledge proffesionalism.
