I am an IMG YoG 2013, will being currently a FM resident in home country be a good thing for match? With 3/4 FM physicians giving my LOR?

synchronicity01 - Did they give you any timeline with your transcript upload? (Next week?) Just be sure to continue to call and e-mail them.

Jacobus - Are you close to completing your current residency? Have you had a chance to complete STEP 1/2/CS?

Yes, it has! Since then, I've got 3 months of USCE, volunteered at an FQHC, worked on 2 research projects (under submission), got 2 new LORs, and passed Step 3 with a good score.

The USCE and Step 3 is a major boost...you're going to match this time! Good luck!

I also finished Step 3 after getting ecfmg certified and worked on 1 research project...hope it pays off.

I think half the battle is identifying what has to be done to boost your chances and just going for it. You seem to have done quite a bit too MrUnderhill87!

Got the same rejection from USF. Three total rejections. One from a rural program in Washington and the other from a midwest program that didn't think it was necessary to update their application criteria (changed to California list for this season). Got two invites from other specialities though

Wow! That's awesome! What other specialties are you applying for? I got another rejection from Mercy Medical Center in Iowa.

Applied to IM and a select few peds programs that I was really interested in. Got a 4th letter for FM coming in soon...hopefully that gets some eyes on my application. I think we'll start getting more acknowledgments and invites next week!

Hi guys. Carib senior here. I'm really not trying to brag here and I wish everyone one of us match. We worked hard to get here.

I applied to 120 FM programs.
214/220/CS passed (all 1st attempt)
I only have 6 interviews so far. I'm fortunate for those 6 but I haven't gotten anything other than rejections in the last few weeks.

Anyone with the similar story? I am kinda scared about not getting more interviews.

I don't know any recent fm residents. Do ppl get more fm interviews later in October and November?

Nah,

Thats about it. Oct is pretty much done and NRMP states >50% in Sept and Oct. I wouldn't expect much more IV's to come in to be honest, and if they do it'll be waitlisted.

6 IVs is enough to match. Good luck, I am sure you'll be fine!

MrUnderhill,

Did you ask for updates from some of these programs or they just sent out email saying rejections? I haven't heard from some of the people who received rejections from, just wondering if they wont say anything.

Maybe like 2-3 of all rejections (IM and FM) were from programs I emailed, but I just started doing that. If you haven't received a rejection from a program, then it means you're still in the game or they don't bother sending out rejections regularly.

Don't know much about others, but have heard good things about Hennepin for FM. What do you want to do after...that should tell you where to rank Yale (IM).

I certified my list yesterday I graded each place out of 5 (1 pt for facilities/training, visa type offered, interactions with residents/staff, location, and "je ne sais quoi"). That made an ok list. Then I tried the bracket chart method a few times.
