Default Got replied by PD "Hoping to work with you", should I be happy?

Hey guys, what if a program's department chair and the PD replied to you thank you e-mail saying "hoping to work with you". Does it mean something? Should I be happy or it means nothing?

Have a smile, and forget it. Don't let these words affect your rank order list!

yes it is good to get an reply from PDs, but you should not think about it much. you should not rank them first because of that mail you need to make the rank list based on your preference

The Match works in your advantage. It means they will try to Match you at your first choice. If it works this is where you will go for your residency. If not, they will try to Match you at your second choice & so on.
Rank the program you mentioned based on how you like it. Let's pretend they rank you high - that's great ! But there might be other programs you prefer.
So what should you think about the email you received ? I agree with what everybody said. Be happy, but do not let it affect the way you see that program.
The fact that they could rank you (very)high will not lower your chance to Match at another program you would prefer (this is another way of answering your question).

I know exactly what you all mean. My question was not about ranking programs at all.
Actually, I am a repeat applicant, with few interviews this year. This type of reply means a lot to me. I am very happy they liked me. Last year, I did not receive any reply of that sort. I was wondering if this should decressed some percentage of my stress in this cycle. I am not done all interviews yet, but I am honestly very stressed, because im an old grad, few interviews and desperately want to get matched this year.

"Should the PD's message lower your stress levels" ?

Hard to say. When you interview at a program 2 things happen:
1. You try to be at your best because you want the program to rank you high
2. Programs try to be at their best because they want you to rank them high

I do not know how often PDs send the kind of message you received. If you are in touch with somebody, who also interviewed at that program you could ask them if they received a message from the program too.

I know it's a stressful time for everybody. I am also an old graduate with few interviews. Good luck.
