Default Year of graduation (YOG) confusion

Hi! I graduated in 2016 May (this is what is printed on my degree certificate) and would apply for the 2020 Match which starts in September 2019.

Would my YOG be considered as 3 years or 4 years and would they filter applications >3 years?

Thank you.

It will be 3 years itself, also most of the programs having the cut-off as 5 years.

If you have YOG morethan 5 years then you are considered as old grad.

I think it will be 3 years from your graduation.

Some people I asked said it is the time between the month/year of grad and the month/year you would start your residency (if matched).

So going by that, my YOG would be May 2016 to July 2020 if matched (I'm applying for the 2020 match) = 4 years

This is so confusing. Everyone says different things.

But my seniors have told that YOG is calculated from year you received your degree to the year you be submitting the application
