Stop Did not match, now what?

Did not match this year for the 2019 MATCH.
I applied in Psychiatry but it seems to be quite competitive now.

I am looking into gaining experience for FM so I can apply next year as there are more opportunities in there.

Any helpful insight, suggestions???:confu sed:

Sorry to hear that my friend. However, it isn't the end of the world. How you want to proceed depends on your scores and rest of your application. If you have decent scores and clinical experience in Psych, it probably makes sense to apply to psych again (perhaps with more clinical rotations and a little of research under your belt). If you really want to apply to Family Medicine next year, you need to build an entirely new application for that (including clinical rotations in Family Med to boost your application). Good luck!

Tou need to gain continuous hands-on clinical experience and gain strong US LORs in the specialty you want to match. Also try to complete step 3 if you have not completed it. It can improve your application.
WHat is your YOG?

If you want to apply for FM specialty, then you need to gain hands-on clinical experience in the FM specialty which can help in making CV strong and can help in getting strong LORs.
