Ok I still have to write my ck, hopefully in one week. What I need to know is, are there limited tokens for ERAS? Do we have to rush to buy/register as soon as ERAS opens. I have no idea how does it go. And I'd appreciate if someone summarizes the process for me, telling me not to miss points like for example, don't get late registering for eras or something like that.

Finally I am in. I will get my ECFMG certificate within 2 weeks and will be applying for step 3.
Is it a good idea to take step 3 in August or prepare well and take it in November or later. Any suggestions? Though I have already done uworld for step 3 and doing second time but still its risky?

Hey everybody,
I have Alhumdulillah passed the CS as of yesterday, and since I'm a fresh graduate (so fresh that I don't even have my diploma yet!!!!) I don't know exactly what I should be doing. Obviously I cannot be ECFMG certified without my diploma (it should be out by the end of this month iA) so I don't know if I will be ECFMG certified by September 15. I don't know if I should participate for the 2015 match or go for the 2016 match. What would you people do if in my shoes? ![]() |

Hey guys, make some space for me as well! Great thread...
I'm in the same boat as some of you. Passed CS on June 18th and now preparing for Step 3, which I plan to give in August mid. Remember we have to take both days of Step 3 on or before August 22nd (Friday) to hope to have our result back by September 10th (3rd Wednesday). We still have time and I would suggest getting over with Step 3 before the applications commence. Especially if your CK knowledge is fresh.. Also, kindly address some of my queries regarding ERAS in this thread... http://www.usmle-forums.com/img-resi...tml#post379681 Pull up your socks! Good luck!! |

Hi, guys!
Question: if my MSPE is in another language do I have to translate it at an authorized translation service (and, for example, comply with the ECFMG translation requirements) or do I just upload it as it is and maybe pay a translation fee? Anyone had this problem before? |

Hello! Step 1 score 210 (first attempt), Step 2 Ck 205 (first attempt, I do not understand what happened, my NBME 4 score was 240, I was expecting something similar), Step 2 CS (I'll take it in 2 days, I hope to pass on the first attempt), I have 2 US doctors LORS, and I'm beginning research at University of Miami in July. Do You think I should stop seeking an INTERNAL MEDICINE residency in U.S.? Don't know if a should keep trying... Please help me here, what do you think my chances are? Thanks for your time.

hi guys, anybody old (YOG 2007) applying this year without CS, (if everything goes by plan will have result by October 8). Planning to update programs after that. People did like this previous year.
I plan to buy Matcharesident's 80$ Internal Medicine package, which will give me programs acceptable for me. Will check those programs on their websites afterwards. Step1: 231 Step2: 248 CS: Septembet 17 phily (planning to take it before Sept 6 as soon as I get there and as dates show up closer to exam day) Will not hopefully need Visa by application time! Planned Observership in August. If anyone struggles how to depict in a convincing and nice manner transition from different home country specialty to Internal Medicine, you are welcome that also applies to me. Let's do it guys! We gonna spend several trimesters on this thread before final outcome!! Everyone would be grateful if we post important things, helpful for everyone with experiences, news, lists etc so that our inbox does not get flooded. As we all here are hanging on our emails. Lot of friends here and hope we everyone go through this!! ![]() ![]() ![]() P.S. all the posts about "how are my chances?" etc please nobody knows exactly what are chances and everybody has something to worry, Let's just do our best and see what happens!! If interesting in checking and sharing what we check we could make a plan. Me for example am interested in YOG cutoffs+ no ECFMG certificate before sep15. what about IMG friendliness only way to check it from my research is to go down and look at their staff. This does not sound enough or convincing to me. those single IMGs may have gotten in that program with contact not through their IMG friendliness. So far we can start with previous year's Matching thread which programs granted visas. and then proceed somehow. |

OK I see a few questions popping up so I thought I'll contribute as much as I know.
1. Most probably, we're gonno upload the documents (including MSPE and transcripts) ourselves. The only scenario where we can't, and our medical school has to upload for us is when the medical school participates in "EMSWP ERAS". It is vital to note that this is different from the process of status verification through EMSWP. This link should clarify the differences. http://www.ecfmg.org/online-services-emswp.html It is noted that many schools participate in status verification but very few have registered for EMSWP ERAS. You can contact your med school or ECFMG ERAS to confirm the same. 2. You can upload as many LORs from as many specialties as you want on your ERAS account. When you finally apply to programs, you have to select up to 4 amongst the uploaded LORs and assign to each program separately. So basically you can choose a different set of LORs for one program and a different set for the others, depending upon your preferences. Let's discuss if we have any other queries. Cheers. |
|
|||
|
|||
![]()
\Hi Tamta, I was referring to a situation where the LORs are waived. In such instances, if the author writes 2 LORs for 2 specialities, how can you know which LOR belongs to which speciality?

Hi guys count me in as well for the IM match! But I have a question! While filling up the ERAS application form, there is a column for extensions/ interruptions in medical education? WHat all things would that include?
Most importantly would we need to include any of the courses we had to repeat at our medical school because of a failure on the exam? Any help would be highly appreciated! |

I would get it for $71 but I've heard from people that their lists are kind of outdated and it's better to make your own list from FREIDA.

I wanted to subscribe for it as well but was considering other options too. I heard "IMG Prep lists" also include some additional information about the programs like names of current and past residents etc. Any thoughts? |

After september 15. NRMP is early now.
So it is good you said probably everyone is on MyEras now and I will buy and register token later. Good luck everyone! yes matcharesident is very good list is active until january, and I can book mark and have together the list that I will apply to . and I can go from there to website of program without too much roaming around. for those who think that someone can find a truly IMG friendly list anywhere I must say be ready for disappointment cause there is nonsuch term as IMG friendliness. this is just evidence based and previous year IV bases. No one can say that super IMG friendly program will send interview to you. So we must apply. for example I have in my customized list lot of programs which will never send me an interview and I am not planning to apply and waste money there. This is what we have to work on customize the customized list. So far what I have looked on all programs are exactly matching my specific filters |

Hey everyone,
Is it all right if one buys the ERAS token say mid-July? Or will they no longer be available till then? Also, if we buy the token but then don't apply to any programs and instead buy a token next year also for the 2016 match, will that be considered as a repeat applicant? |

Brief intro before my question. IMG, GC, Step1 and CS pass, step 2 yet to write, no USCE. I have an observership for the month of September(IM) and October( Peds). I want to apply to pediatric residency. But do you think doing an observership in OCT will help me this year? I dont think i can update my CV once i submit it to progs in september, so will it be useful? it is at a 1000$ fee!
Thank you! |

I am applying for the match for the 3rd time. This year I am doing research at a NYC hospital and I hope this will get me matched this season!! I would like to help out as much as I can here becuase this forum has helped me through my steps and even my matching application! So a bit about me first: Step 1: 219 Step 2 CK: 232 Step 2 CS: passed 1st attempt Step 3: 213 All passed on first attempts ECFMG certified YOG: 2013 2 months elective at university hospitals, 2 LORs from univeristy teaching hospital attendings. 5 months observerships No research visa needed Ok now about the match process: July 1st we buy the token from ECFMG OASIS --> ERAS online services. Then we use that to log onto MyEras 2015 season. Basically MyERAS is your application. You start working on it and make it ready by Sept 15. Upload LORs either yourself or the author does that. I heard that unwaived LORs matter more than waived, so try to do that. About MSPE, ask your university if they upload it, if not they you get it from them and upload it yourself. Registering for NRMP is a different thing. MyERAS is your application or lets say online CV and NRMP is the MATCH. So registering for the NRMP begins on Sept 15. You need to apply to it to make your rank order lists and be available for the match in March. I used Match A Resident last year and will use them this year also. I found them really good and efficient and saved me a lot of time. They tend to update their information regarding programs from mid July - mid August. I advise starting your research about beginning of August to get the most recent information. I had 1 issue with them last year, that a program which I fit their application profile was not on my customized MAR list but when going through their website I found out I am eligible to apply. I am just mentioning this to say that nothing is perfect, MAR might have simple issues but I found it way more time efficient to use them than going through each program website. I hope I answered most of your questions, if not just let me know. Good luck to everyone!! |

MAR is MATCHARESIDENT.com
I started reviewing programs and making my own comprehensive file with info I am interested and additional notes. Yes I agree there are some discrepancies like some programs DO require ECFMG certificate (I am looking for those without certificate) . This is the best to to filter the programs I Just did 4 programs and am exhausted. So I have the programs which I will filter than by myself. For sure big job is done for us. I am sure I will meet some programs that will not fit me (although MAR put them in my list) But I am 99% confident there won't be lot more programs that apply to me and MAR did not show. So anyways everyone chooses what applies to one, you guys may have lot of time and energy to do all the programs yourself. Good luck ! |

i m now starting this process. just got the token and setting up my profile. i was going through Freida but its extremely exhausting so i might go for MAR. just that going through some of the websites i realized that my 1 month of USCE (coming in august) wont be enough. i dont even have time to do more. i m just so upset.
