Should I finish my Internship in Nepal?

Hey, I have been searching for a website like this since months. So, here is my problem , sb help me.
I am a Nepalese citizen currently residing in Nepal. I did my MBBS from China, which fortunately is listed in the IMED.

Currently I am in Nepal doing my internship (i.e after 4.5 years of studying in China). After I came back from China I was informed that I won the DV lottery and apparently I am getting a Green Card.

Now here is the problem, right now I am in the middle of my internship and I am to leave my country in a couple of weeks.

So , can I continue my internship in the U.S or do I have to come back to Nepal for that?

help me out

Come to US then go back to Nepal

First of all congratulations on the Visa

Now, I think the best course of action you take is to come to USA, get your Green Card then apply for (Re-Entry Permit) which will allow you to stay outside USA for a maximum of two years without having to return during that period.

Go back to Nepal and finish your internship and preferrably during that time you finish of the USMLE steps.

Then come back to USA and finish the other steps and get ECFMG certified and then apply for the match.

The reason behind my advice is that it's very difficult (or I can safely say impossible) to have your core clinical internships finished here in USA. Most medical schools won't allow you to do that (unless there's some kind of sponsorship between your Chinese medical school and a teaching hospital here in the US, which something I doubt that you have).

Also, the ECFMG won't recognize your medical education credentials without you finishing your internships.

So if you follow the plan I mentioned above you won't be losing your MBBS nor your Green Card.

Usmle id

Thank you Lee,
So i am in the US now and i got my green card about 2 weeks ago.
Like i told you before i am still in the middle of my internship program in nepal.
I will return back in a few weeks, complete my internship and come back to US in the next 6 months or so.
I would like more information regarding the USMLE ID.
Since i have not graduated from my college yet, that technically still makes a med student, am i eligible to get the USMLE ID ? what more do i need to know about USMLE ID ?
You have been a great help. Thanks

I will return back to Nepal in a few weeks, complete my internship and come back to US in a few months.
I was wondering about the IWA application, what exactly is it for ?
my concern is I still need time to prepare for step 1 exams, is IWA application for taking test dates ? if not could you be kind enough to let me know ?
thanks

congrats

hey congrats on winning the dv lottery .. hehe .. but as far as i know the Americans don't recognize whatever internship or house-job u've done back home. so i don't understand why u have to come back to Nepal to finish ur internship. i mean now that uve got a green card that means ur ultimately gonna stay there so why not head towards the usmle rather than wasting ur time n money on coming back to Nepal for internship

Thank you drmeena

Internship, unlike in the US, means the final year of MBBS and not the first year of a residency program.
I have to finish my internship in order to graduate from my university. I have cleared this matter with my medical council and my university. I am not planning to do a housejob here though, that would be a waste of time.
thank you
