It's time to prepare for SOAP when you did not have convincing performance in this interview season: either two few interviews or no confidence in winning a spot.
I found that there are so many unfilled Surgery/Preliminary Programs. I am wondering why this happened considering there are...
Hello,
I have sent my applications to chosen schools via ERAS, however, I only selected "categorical" positions but now would like to add preliminary as well. I have checked the preliminary box under "Programs applied to" and clicked save, however, my question is – do programs get this updated...
Hey guys,
Is it a good thing to apply to both preliminary and categorical positions at the same hospital? I have asked around but I have got mixed opinions about this. So, it would be really great it anyone can clarify that.
Thanks and good luck!! :)
Hello friends,
I am applying to Neurology both advanced and preliminary programs. I have a doubt that, while applying for preliminary medicine program, should we assign personal statement of Neurology or separate medicine PS is needed. Also, about LORs, do we have to assign neuro or medicine...
Hi everyone
many of excellent internal medicine programs require at least one year US clinical experience (like Vanderbilt program). Can I apply to a preliminary year in IM then apply to categorical IM next year to a good program.
Does this work?
Have anyone did that before?
Thank you :)

While selecting programs on ERAS, some programs offer PRELIMINARY and CATEGORICAL.
Please let me know what is the difference and what selection should be made.
Does PRELIMINARY means one more year??
"Congratulations! You have matched to a one-year position."
Can someone please tell me what this means?
I ranked 10 Internal Medicine Categorical Programs and 1 Preliminary Surgery Program.

Hi Guys
I can see that NRMP has different codes for Prelims and Categorical, I interviewed for categorical but should we include prelims also in our rank order list.
Please help with the answer,
Is it recommended to apply to both a preliminary position and categorical position in the same program? If you don't get a categorical spot, can you apply for the preliminary spot, or would that work against you? Or if you don't get categorical do they automatically offer you preliminary?
My target is IM residency
If I choose prelim in addition to categorical
Will it be a wise step?
Some say it s more competitive
Some say u ll have to start a 3 yr residency again after that
But it s better than nothing and maybe one or two places will be free?
At least it may help but will it hurt?

Now what I have in mind is, If you apply to prelim and cat in...

- Can you apply to prelim and...
Assuming one applies for Prelim surgery as a road to Anesthesiology, do they apply for Prelim Surgery and CA-1 during the same match cycle or apply (and match of course) into prelim surgery, and then apply next year for CA-1?
A similar doubt I had is going to PGY-2 in GS after a pre-lim GS...
