is it the same order as u mentioned in ur scores??that is u scored 251 in nbme 16???..that is pretty bad to hear..very sorry for u..heard that nbme s predict real score for most of the people...i think u must have faced some problem during ur exam..
Yes it was the same order and it was absolutely heart breaking. The exam for me was very different. It didn't resemble uworld, kaplan qbank, or nbme exams.

As far as studying go I took about 6 months to study. I completed all of kaplan, DIT, pass program (for concepts), pathoma, kaplan qbank, and uworld 3x. I did FA maybe 6x? I lost count.

Exam day I felt amazing. The testing center was very comfortable. The temperature was great. I am a morning person and my exam started at 8am. I was not tired at all through the entire exam. I had the same amount of energy in the 7th block as i did in the 1st block.

The problem was the actual exam I had. I only had 2-3 questions in total that were 2 liners. Everything else was long paragraphs on my exam. I would have voided my exam, but it was the last day of my eligibility period. On uworld my average was 83% 2nd time around and I would finish uworld blocks with 15 minutes remaining. On nbme I always had 10 minutes left over to review questions. On the actual usmle exam i had ZERO time left over after each block. I had maybe 10-15 questions marked per block and had zero time to go back and review them. On block 5 I managed to have 1 minute to review.

My problem really was the timing and the weird questions asked. It tells you that something was different when you have 10min time left in a bock on nbme vs zero on the actual usmle. If I did have more time left over I would have done better on this exam.

It was just bad luck for me. I know there was nothing different I could have done to do better on this exam. Everyone gets a different exam even if it is on the same day. Your questions are drawn from a large qbank as you are taking the test. Your exam questions are not preset.

It's a terrible feeling and nothing can be done about it. It makes it harder that I am an IMG. I just hope that I can at least qualify for an internal medicine residency one day and do well in clinicals.

For IMG students, the score report shows your breakdown of what you did well and didn't do well on just like NBME does. My weakest was biostat. Everything else I did above average on. General principles was average.

Hey... I know it can be hard to receive scores that are worse than expected. This exam has a considerable amount of "luck factor" on it, so now just relax and know you did your best :)

You passed your exam on your first attempt and, even though it will be harder from now on, you still have chances of matching! You are not out of the game ;) Just do your best, with good lors and good CK score, you have hope! I know a person (IMG) who got 201 in her step 1 and matched last year for internal medicine! I am not sure about her other credentials, but I know that she got only observerships (no clerkships) and was a fresh grad.

Anyway, just try not to be demotivated, relax a few days, and move on! You still have chances!! And I am not trying to give false hopes, I know it is going to be hard... But if there are people who manage to match with worse scores then you, why wouldn't you?? It is hard for everyone and the chances are only zero if you give up Happy-2

Good luck!!! ;)
Thank you I definitely needed that. We need more people like you on these forums.
