I know that 227 is not a great score for many (or maybe for everyone), but I was very pleased with it considering my experience with step 1. Five weeks before my exam I was barely passing my NBME with 194.

NBME 12 - 194 ( 5 weeks out - Oct 5th)
NBME 15 - 207 ( 3.5 weeks out - Oct 16th)
NBME 16 - 207 ( 13 days before exam - Oct 30th)
NBME 17 - 232 ( 4 days before the exam - Nov 8th)
Prometric Practice Exam: 83% (one day before)

Exam on Nov 12th

I feel like people like me don't share their stories enough because 227 is a shameful score. I hoping to match into family medicine or psychiatry, so I hope 227 is good enough.

To all those who struggle the way I did, DON'T GIVE UP. Sprint in your studying. Put your heart, soul and every ounce of energy into this test. I was doing UW questions about 1 - 2 blocks per day, memorizing the hell of out FA and listening to pathoma lectures up to the day before the exam. However, I did sleep 7 -8 hrs every night. Sleep is very important.

So, yeah, today I am celebrating … and moving on to step 2. Happy-2:happy:

score in nbme

Congrats !! It is a good score.I know some one who got 222 around in both steps and had a MD from India got in IM in first chance :))
u know u have helped many by sharing ur experiences . Everyone writes here about their high scores both in NBME as well as in real exam. That's ok .But practically there are many people who inspite of working hard for months ,for some unexplained reasons can not raise their NBME scores and naturally are frustrated .It is happening to me too. Recently i talked with some one who got around 200 in NBME and in less than two months managed to get high NBME scores and in real exam ,he got 236 . So it is very important to describe stories of those who started initially with poor score and finally managed to improve NBMEs scores in short time. It helps us.Thanks

Hello ucheeee,

Yes, PUSH YOURSELF!

During my last two weeks I did UW, FA and Pathoma.

1. I would do a chapter from pathoma (video + its lecture notes).

2. Then I would memorize a section in FA specific to the chapter I just finished in pathoma.

3. Then I followed up with questions from UW on specifically that topic.

For example, if I watched the cardio lectures from pathoma, I would then MEMORIZE the cardio section from FA and do about 20 - 25 questions from UW on Cardio.

4. At the end of the day, I would do a block of random topics from UW. Now, I did UW twice. So my second time through UW it didn't take me long to review the answers.

5. Behaviour science, Biochem, Immunology, Mico, Pathology and Pharma ... I memorized from FA, then followed up with questions from UW.

I know it seems like a lot studying in one day. I studied about 12 - 14 hrs a day ... and I had no choice but to stay focused.

Last two days before of the exam, I did 5 - 6 blocks of UW per day and spent less time reviewing FA.

I am probably not the best person to ask for studying tips because my score is not that great. But thats what I did during the last 13 days.

I hope this helps.

Hello crunch_time,

Don't lose hope. When I got 207 on NBME 16 two weeks before my exam it motivated me to study harder ... I wish I studied this hard throughout the process :))

But look at my post above to ucheeee. That is what I did during my last two weeks.

I hope it helps Happy-2

awww thanks winwin! I really appreciate what you said and I totally agree with you. For the longest time I felt like I was the only one struggling with step 1 because everyone posts about their high marks, which is great and helpful but sometimes it can be more depressing than motivating.

congrats that is realy make us happy can u tell us how u feel hardness of exam does it looks as uw quest or nbme quest as i fing alod of nbme weird and hard to be solved my exam withing 2 week
Hello ****

the exam questions were closer to UW questions, but NBME is a very accurate assessment of your knowledge. The score you get on your NBME is +10/-10 (in my opinion) estimation of your real score.

DO BOTH!
