What to think of when the USMLE question presents a patient who's having abdominal pain in relation to eating.

Here's the most important causes:

  • Gastric ulcer
  • Gastritis
  • Chronic pancreatitis
  • Abdominal angina
  • Biliary colic
Do you have more to add to the list!

It refers to postprandial pain seen in patient with atherosclerotic narrowing of their mesenteric arteries.
It's sometimes referred to as ischemic colitis.
