Hi all!

I'm looking for accomodation (sublets mainly) near Yale Schhol of Medicine during the period january 28-february 22. Any suggestions?

Also, is there anybody who'd be at YSM during this period, who is also looking for accomodation? I am open to sharing an apartment! In any case, it'll be nice to know somebody before the elective begins.

Hi There

I can share my experience when i did an elective at Yale.New haven is expensive specially the YSOM.Luckily for me,i knew a guy who used to own a store very close to SOM who also arranged a room for me nearby in very cheap rates.I think it was 200 dollars per month as i had to stay for only one month.It was february too and snow everywhere but i used to walk to hospital as it was 10 mins walk.I saved some good money.I know the other students were living at lavish accommodation arranged by Yale in downtown which was quite expensive and not affordable atleast for me.I would suggest to go on new haven craigslist and find some cheap place nearby or some one who knows or lives in new haven can give better advice.Only problem with my place was it was not safe but who cares

About the safety, I've heard Yale has really good security and their security accompanies students everywhere. Isn't that true?

Unfortunately i am not sure they are still there or not.I am talking about few years ago.what you can do is to try to talk to ppl at nearby places like gas stations and convenience stores etc.they can tell you about cheap accommodation as no one else can do.this place was near kimberly avenue very close to YSOM but on opposite side of downtown.As far as security,who told you they follow you around.This might be true if you are living in their accommodation that is filthy expensive! or if you are a yale student which you will not as elective students are considered visitors only.you can ask Linda Limauro who used to be the electice co-ordinator there( i am not sure she still there!) she is a good lady
