25 yr old primigravida women undergoes amniocentesis during 25th week of pregnancy which reveals an increased level of acetylcholine esterase in amniotic fluid. the test suggest which of the following abnormalities?
A) migration abnormalities
B) failed fusion
C) failed proliferation
D) failed apoptosis
E) incomplete maturation

an increased acetylcholinesterase should be to detect neural tube defects. so from all options i wanna say failed fusion??:eek:

yup correct answer is failure of fusion...
in NTDs as CSF leak in amniotic fluid, alfa-feto protein and acetylcholine estarase level rises in fluid....
