Dr Goljan audios says that the treatment for histoplasmosis and criptococcus is Actinomycin.
Is that correct??????
Kaplan says is Amphotericin B.
Which one is correct????? Help please:sorry:

Yup - Actinomycin is an anticancer drug that was originally an antibiotic - it was used for treatment of a variety of cancers including gestational trophoblastic neoplasia,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actinomycin#cite_note-2 Wilms' tumorhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actinomycin#cite_note-3 and rhabdomyosarcoma. Kind of an older drug now...

Fungal infections are not an indication for Actinomycin

Amphotericin B is used as a general drug for systemic fungal infections - so think of it like that if you see a question with a systemic fungal infection.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actinomycin#cite_note-4
