Hello,
I am an IMG, I want to take Step 2 CK before Step 1. I am graduating from Med School in a few months so the clinical subjects would still be fresh. I am not that great at the basic sciences.
- are the basic sciences heavily tested on Step 2?
- can I get a very high score without reviewing any basic science?
- if I do review the basic sciences, which subjects are high-yield for Step 2?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

find some one Who scored Higher in CK without step-1,
or take step-1 first,
period!
step-1 can help you 'take pathology, pathophysi, & Pharma ,biostats, ethics, all these subjects on finger tips , & boost you score on CK,

CK is not all about Clinical , it is mixed, with genetics, & what is mechanism of disease & ofcourse management,

take step-1 then CK, esp if you are weak at basic concepts,
if you were a topper , a Gold medalist on med school , then take CK first
my advice

it is my opinion, do ask others & decide what you feel is best :)
GOOD LUCK

Why not do NBME form and assess if you want the score you will get? That will make you decide what to go first.

If you get a high predicted score in NBME, then for all you know, you are already ready to take the exam.

Great advice. I thought about that. Which forms do you think I should take? Are the predictions accurate? I am aiming at a score of 245+. So if I get 245+ on the NBME, does that mean I can get that score in the real exam too?

Thanks

I'm not quite sure as to the forms but they say that the latest form mimics the real deal better than older ones.

Getting a 245 in NBME does not in anyway mean you will have the same score in real exam. There is "high probability" that you'll score near your target, but there are a lot more things you should factor. Like anxiety and stress level during exams, hits and misses, misunderstood questions, exam area too cold, too hungry to take the test, or too sleepy from not having a good night sleep.

Again, there's no assurance. But the odds are in your favor.
