I've seen a number of messages in this forum telling that the more programs you apply for is the better.

While this is true to a certain extent, I think the quality of your applications is also a deciding factors.

If you apply to 200 programs haphazardly here and there with different specialties and with all sorts of programs community and university you applications will all be turned down and u'll never get an interview.

So quantity and quality

You need to know which programs will likely accept you and you need to focus on a specialty

I'd say 10 highly focused and well designed applications is better than 100 non-specific randomized applications
