I'm currently doing the application position for 2011 Match.
I'm an IMG, I have GC, I've passes Steps 1, CK, CS and will take 3 by the end of the yr.
My question is regarding the application, I want Radiology, do I apply for Radiology and they place me in a transitional year, do I have to apply for both or do I apply for a transitional year and If I do so, do I have to apply again next yr for my definitive specialty?

Thanks in advance,

Apply to both

You can apply for both this year.
Apply for transitional and for advanced (radiology).
If you get the transitional then you have to apply again next year if you get the advanced then that's it you are in.

yes you can, but the problem is that you will need a LOR from your current PD when you apply! so what happens if you didn't match, your PD may kick you out because you are no more interested in categorical IM!! you may apply to prelim medicine from the start but this will be very competitive. You can find categorical radio and neuro from the start, although they are less, but you can apply at the same time to categ and prelim medicine to gain more interviews.

Nuclear Medicine

Hi,
I am an IMG from India, have not taken any steps yet, Planning for 2013 match. I want to apply to Nuclear Medicine residency. I have 1 month USCE in Nuc Med, and 1 month in IM. However, very few places offer it as a residency, as most of the time one does it during fellowship, after IM or Radiology residency. I wanted to know if it is an attainable goal [Nuc Med residency]. How easy or difficult will it be? What are the future prospects? it it better to do Nucmed as residency or fellowship? Kindly clarify. Thanks.

Hi I would like to get Neurology residency I applied to preliminary programs this year, but I didn't apply to advanced program. Was it wrong? Should I apply to both preliminary and advanced at same time. Can I apply to advanced programs next year if I get preliminary program this year?
