Hi, sorry if this is a basic question. I wanted to know if:

Our 15 minute encounters with the SP, is it between me and the SP only, or are there MDs in another room observing the encounter (through cameras) and scoring me on my proper medical etiquette? I know the Patient Notes are tested solely by the MD, and I know that SPs are responsible for most of the scoring on the encounters, but I'm not sure if MDS have any role in testing my historytaking and examination skills in the encounter.

I hope I managed to ask properly what I wanted to ask lol.

It is just you and the sp inside. Sp will grade you on sep, cis and phy exam. Physician will grade you on history and patient note.

Please read FA or the official usmle.org information before asking questions... it is all in there! The physician only grades the patient note. nothing else!

Previously, the history part of data gathering was scored by sp using a checklist. Recent changes abolished that and the history part is now checked by physician based on your patient note.

Not quite sure what you mean by that. of course the physician grades your patient note, qhich also includes your history.
But I am pretty sure the SP still scores the history part. Where did you get that information from? I read the official usmle.org info and it does not mention that, as far as I know...

The*Scoring the Step 2 CS Examination*section (pp 11-12)*describes changes to how the Integrated Clinical Encounter (ICE) and Communication and Interpersonal Skills (CIS) subcomponents will be scored. For the ICE subcomponent, standardized patients (SPs) will complete checklists for the physical examination portion of the patient encounter.* SPs will no longer complete checklists for the history portion of the patient encounter; an examinee’s ability to gather appropriate history will continue to be assessed in the patient note. SPs assess CIS performance using a checklist based on observable behaviors; this replaces the global rating of communication skills using a series of generic rating scales.
