B1/B2 rejected at Islamabad embassy

It really breaks my heart as I write this but I just hope that someone atleast might benefit from this..

I appeared with my parents at the Islamabad embassy for my US visa and it was declined. The VO asked me to sit down while he interviewed my parents first. This is what they asked them :
why do you want to go to the US, how long willl you stay there, what do you do, prove your financial settlements, have you been to the US before...Then they called me and interviewed me alone. This is my conversation with the VO :

  1. Why do you want to go to the US? CS exam
  2. Have you been there before? Yes
  3. Why ? High school
  4. I believe you had a great experience! Do you talk to your friends often? Yes
  5. So what are your future plans? aiming for a residency
  6. What will you do when you come back to Pakistan? externship here and research
  7. I see you are not working for the past 6 months.WHY????!!!!!! I quit to study
  8. Really!!!!So you mean that you quit to study ??? For 6 months!!! ahhmmm..Yes, a lot of drs do that. USMLE is quite a competitive exam
  9. I have seen so many students working and studying for their steps?!! (sigh)
  10. You mentioned you know this person in the US.Who is that? How long have you known that person? (XYZ, for 20 years, family friend)
  11. Let me see your documents.
  12. Why the low usmle score? I was aiming for a higher score but well trying hard for my CK.
  13. What study materials do you use? KLN,uworld
  14. What residency will you aim for? Family medicine, the low score can suffice
  15. Where are your siblings? (xyz)
  16. How long have they been in those countries? (...... yrs.)
  17. Are you married? No
  18. Never married? Yup, never married.
  19. Give me a minute please.
  20. I have bad news maam..Sorry! I cannot determine at the moment that you have strong ties with your country and you might not return back from the US. (shocked!!!) Is there something I can do to get a visa as I will be reapplying.
  21. Change your circumstances.Good bye! (Tears!)
BLUNDERS I THINK I MADE AND PLEASE YOU DON'T DO IT:
* get an employment! Apply for the visa while you are working! Give them an assurity that you WILL return to your country.
* Mention that you will be living in a hotel rather than at someone's home.
* I don't know but maybe my "single" status would have been a negative factor too.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SUGGEST ME WHAT I SHOULD DO NOW!ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!! I am totally dishearted.Had my wedding in May and seems to be cancelled now.My fiance can't travel and if I don't travel either, it ends for us...I can't stop my tears.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE OUT THERE!

And now here's a new one..I don't know how true this is but a lot of people told me that due to the weak Pak-America ties, a lot of visas are being rejected as an adverse effect. .. (sigh)...Then again it's luck I say!
Weak pak-america ties? that's weird... what exactly do they mean by that?

Simple!Read the news..Pakistan and America are not in really good ties these days..My friends in USA told me that they aren't hearing of a lot of pakistani students coming to their universities either as they used to hear before...Maybe it's that as well..But what so ever..some people get their visas and some don't..Therefore,it's luck!

b1/b2 visa denials

I am posting just to let u know that there are so many unfortunate examples in Pakistan who r deprived of their rights by Islamabad embassy.
I applied for US B1/B2 visa in March 2011 after step1,I got refusal and was told to reapply after CK.When I reapplied in June 2001 after step 2 CK,I got refusal on grounds that I don't have strong social ties with my country.I got third refusal 1 month after wards on same grounds.

All three times I was doing job,had hotel booking and had a strong bank statement but those people don't bother to look at your documents. They look at ur face with such hatred and degradation that u feel so ashamed of coming to US embassy.
The only solution is to try and try again with status change and pray that any good human being should be sitting next time.
friends, i can feel the helplessness, despair, agony n pain deep inside you after getting visa refusal.....aaaaaaaaaah.
i took my ck on dec 8 and then i started working on visa issue, let me tell u that i waited for step 1 and step 2 results before applying for visa. imet lot many ppl, disscussed many issues, memorized section 214(b);). after consulting many fellows, visa experts, my ''visa holding lucky'' friends i extracted following important points to get visa.
>u must have taken both step 1 n step 2 before applying.
>u must b employed.
>u must have legal papers(affidavit n legal surity bonds) showing that u will return after c.s other wise u will b legally liable.
>u must have proper itinerary showing that u will only visit c.s exam center n no other visits inside u.s
>u must not mention about ur relatives in u.s( even if u have, if u mention thats like a suicide in islamabad embassy:))).
>u must have strong bank statement of ur sponsors.
>ur future plans shud b ''cooked'' in such a way that shows u will obvoiusly cm back to ur homeland after c.s
>ur personal job's pay slips, showing that u r really getting pay here in pakistan n cant stay away for a long time.
>properly signed ''leave application'' from ur job officer, institution head(M.S).
>all the documentations regarding c.s
> hotel booking in u.s showing ur temporary stay.

FRIENDS , I PREPARED ALL THE ABOVE MENTIONED POINTS IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAYS... n then after 1 n half month of hectic work i appeared before u.s embassy on 11 jan...the v.o was in normal mood, saw all my documents. n asked following questions.
.why r u going to u.s.?
.why r u taking usmle?
what is ur future plan?
..how ecfmg certifcation will help u?
..who will sponsor u?
..where r u working?
...what r duties of pediatric house physician
(as i mentioned peads house physician as my job).
..why u preffered doing h.job in peadiatrics even after 12 months h.job in other fields( i clarified him that i c my future in peads, thts why i m doing additional h.job in this field to get some better awarenwess before joining residency in peads)
..why u preffered atlanta for c.s?
. he looked at all my documents while i was talking.
...while looking at my med.school result cards n degree he said what about any other job offers from hospitals in pakistan, show me sm documentation of any job offers if u have ...i showed him FCPS-1 letter from CPSP , showing that i can join any tertiary care hospital in pakistan as i have this letter showing that i have passed part 1 of fellowship exam n now m eligible for further job in pakistani hospitals.

it took 20+ mins in this interview, n then all of sudden he said ''''UNFORTUNATELY U CD NOT QUALIFY FOR SECTION 214-B STANDARDS(most absurd section i have ever heard). thank u, take back ur documents.. i told him that ''i have all the legal documents , etc showing that i will cm back obviously''......by that time it was all over ......:toosad:.

my conclusion.....''its all luck , jst try ur best n leave it to ALLAH''

a question about purpose of travel

hi, guys. i just wanted to ask about something related to application submission. I have applied through one of the speedex couriers in pakistan and they gave me the receipt without asking me the purpose of my travel. Some of my friends who went directly to an american express travel services center told me they were asked about their purpose of travel while submitting the application, where they were able to mention USMLE step 2 CS. The speedex guys never gave me any such chance so my purpose of travel simply states B1/B2. I was given a date on the next day after my application submission and i have just a few days to go before my interview. Does all this put me in a disadvantaged situation, like do they have special VO's for people going to take USMLE step 2 cs and people who have mentioned USMLE STEP 2 CS during their application submission go to only those VO's for interviews and they may send me to just any VO? I guess im overthinking all this, but reading the posts in this thread has caused me to start worrying a bit :scared:.

no. its not lyk that....they only ask about any previous travel history... there is no specific visa officer for taking interviews of C.S candidates... we all have to apply for B1/B2 visa....v.o asks about our purpose of travel. its his/her first question..........:).

lets put it in sm other way....YES , THEY HAVE A SPECIFIC V.O FOR REJECTING C.S CANDIDATES....WHOEVER APPEAR BEFORE THAT PARTICULAR V.O, GETS REJECTION....:))

haha...it's gonna be a fun day ;)
surely...its full of excitement, passion, thrill n confusion......
v.o are psychologists as well.... if u put sm extra stress on smthing, lyk saying it again and again that i will come back.. that will trigger suspicion in his mind ...ACTIONS SPEAK MORE THAN WORDS..
also v.o considers himself as a potential patient, n if he consider u a confused doc. he will reject u ....;) but if u appear confident , reasonable n expressive in front of him that is a plus point........
So it means there are two CS exams one in embassy other in USA lol
