In this thread we vote for the Best Gross Anatomy Review Book for the USMLE step 1.
Unlike the best comprehensive review books for USMLE Step 1, you can choose only one option here as it's unlikely you relied on more than one book in your preparation.
If you know of other books that are useful for Gross Anatomy preparation for the USMLE step 1 please post your reply and we'll add it to the poll options.

I think you forgot the most important of Anatomy texts, Keith L. Moore Gross anatomy, its longer than most, but truly an AMAAAAZING textbook, I don't need to review any anatomy after i got done with that and made my own notes.....its soooo clinically oriented!

Dear Dr_Kal_El,
The list of books in this poll include USMLE-oriented books in a short high yield format. We intentionally left big textbooks such as Moore's, Gray's, and Netter's.
Please let us know if you think these textbooks should be included in this poll.
Netter's Clinical Anatomy

Ok. I have read almost half of Netter's Clinical Anatomy, but I must say that I love those pictures. Clear pictures and explanations. The most important structures written in bold font. I was surprised how good were the embryology pictures of this title. I found BRS embryology (a bit long) very helpful, but pictures weren't so good.

I haven't been this eager to read anatomy ever.
I'm reviewing Anatomy from Kaplan Lecture Notes and Kaplan Videos. I'm also planning to review Case Files Anatomy. Is this a good idea?

Yeah, that sounds a great idea

Anatomy step 1...any help???

I am going to start gross anatomy tomorrow and I cant quite figure out the best source...I saw kaplan and I didnt like it ...any help out there given that I dont have any videos..thanx a lot
Kiko,

I like Kaplan gross anatomy, but do not like Kaplan . so if you do not have any video, you did not miss much.

I suggest high yield gross anatomy and high yield neuroanatomy, which is what I am using right now.
thanx a lot usluipek,
do you think high yield is enough ? becasue I wont have any time to read from another source as this will be my only source.. I personally think high yield is a great book.

Hi, Kiko,

I have not taken the test so I can not say for sure.

I plan to just stick to HY and then do Kaplan Q bank and U world. I think this combination is enough.

good luck and all the best
Hi There

Hi Guys.
I'm doing right now gross anatomy.
I'm watching David Seiden videos - i like it very much. than i just read through lecture note book. But than I read High Yield Gross anatomy by Ronald Dudek. this guy is a contributor of KLN gross anatomy.
if Kaplan anatomy is not enough for you i advise you to do both books parallel.
at first I watch videos - than lecture notes - than High Yield book.
if you will study approximately 6-7 hours a day you'll be ready in 10 days.
:D
wish you luck

Hi all

Hi all

As I was looking at your posts, most of us believe that kaplan is comprehensive and complete but studying anatomy from it, is a little boring,

I have started probing between different anatomy books, and I had a look at recall anatomy, HY anatomy and BRS anatomy

I found HY anatomy superior in compare with other books, regarding to its more photos and illustrates

As we know the materials in all USMLE books are highly similar, so I think we shouldn't worry about it, and we could opt the one that makes us satisfied and is more effective in learning concepts.

Thanks for your time, and I really appreciate any comments about other books.

after i skim some chapters from Rapid Review i found it is more much better than HY ...

HY although it contains a very good clinical correlation with "well chosen" x-ray, CT & MRI photos, it is too dense and more directed to surgrey than to basic anatomy.... moreover the gross anatomy is highly detailed and boring ! but it is not a mistake to do the clinical section alone.... in addition to another book which is Rapid Review...

Rapid Review is a great combination between Clinical Embryo and Anatomy without excessive details .... great clinical correlations with good x-ray, CT & some MRI images.... and the most important thing that you don't need to go & search for additional Atlas becase many "High-Yeild" colored images are included from Netter's Atlas & another Atlases....

So i decided for Anatomy & Embrgo to do RR + some clinical correlations from HY....

hoping best for all...
what about anatomy?

hey guys...i'm a second year medical student and i'm about to start anatomy classes in my school...what book do you think i need in order to focus on the high-yield staff of this lesson?i plan to study for the anatomy section of step 1 along with the lessons....do you think high-yield gross anatomy is the best choise?the material we use in my school is gray's anatomy but i also have moore's clinical anatomy....

please answer!!!!help...:)
