I was wondering if there is a specific day that is best to take the step 1 ?

They will send out the results on the third wednesday, so big whoop. He is saying Friday because that's the last day before the weekend, so you get your result in less than 3 weeks, which is true. I took it on a Thursday and got the result on the 3rd Wed.
It's a bloody standardized exam, take it on any day, your chances are the same as far as questions or scores are concerned.
