In this thread we vote for the Best Genetics Review Book for the USMLE step 1.
Unlike the best comprehensive review books for USMLE Step 1, you can choose only one option here as it's unlikely you relied on more than one book in your preparation.
If you know of other books that are useful for Biochemistry preparation for the USMLE step 1 please post your reply and we'll add it to the poll options.

what do u recommend for Genetics ?

ive tried kaplan , but i didnt like it at all! pls recommend some other book/books thank you /Sadde
Did you read the kaplan lectures or watch the videos as well? I think Kaplan along with FA covers everything you need to know! Also, when you do some qbanks just go over the questions thoroughly and read the answers.

Go to Amazon.com and see the feedbacks of the people who used these books there. From the comments/step experiences I've read, BRS is usually recommended, next is High Yield Genetics. This is just from what I remember.

There's a difference between not liking your primary book (meaning it has been ineffective in teaching you concepts) and just plain improving the subject. If you only need to improve or supplement, I think Pre-Test Genetics (or doing qbanks) will be fine. :)
i went through kaplan videos and the book , i didnt feel like i really "got" it lol

Maybe it's just a "feeling" -- unless you have supporting evidence from a poor qbank performance or an assessment test.

Have you done uworld? If not yet, you'd be surprised. The genetics questions there aren't tough. In fact, they are pretty straighforward. You can answer them knowing the genetic diseases chapter from Goljan. :)

There are only certain topics that are hard in genetics (i.e. inheritance diagrams or calculations). Practice questions here are the key... :)
