A 36-year-old mother took an experimental drug for morning sickness while she was pregnant. Several years later, this experimental drug is found to be a toxic agent that disturbs normal fetal development of the loop of Henle. Bone morphogenic protein(BMP) can be considered a kind of growth factor....which has its own signal to stimulate n regulate growth...on disruption of this signalling abnormal development may occur...they hv their own specific receptors on body cells specially of bone,cartilage,kidney, heart, central nervous system,ovary...etc....
BMP can be produced by recombinant DNA technology...there r different kinds of it...but only 2 in use...BMP2 and BMP7
BMP 2 for bone and cartilage development...
BMP 7 for kidney development...:)

The correct answer is D.

The loop of Henle is derived from the metanephric mesoderm. Development of the metanephric mesoderm is regulated by FGF-2 (fibroblast growth factor), BMP-7 (bone morphogenetic protein), and Wnt-11. GDNF (glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor), WT-1 (an anti-oncogene), and c-Ret (tyrosine kinase receptor) regulate growth of the ureteric bud.
