Hello!

May I ask in the CAF in myERAS, to which category do you put an elective clerkship? is this part of medical education? or experience?

How about an observership?

thank you very much!

If the elective clerkship was part of your medical school core curriculum then you put it as medical education. But it was your individual choice and outside your medical school curriculum then you put it as experience.

Likewise, observerships are to be in the experience section.

Anything that did not produce an educational certificate is considered an experience rather than medical education.

CME, including online CME is to be put in the medical education.

I want to ask about my case, Our medical university curriculum contains credit hours for elective in the 6th year.
We have the choice either to do elective inside or outside (e.g USA)
Is it considered medical education where ever I do it ?

We also have a research in the curriculum in the 6th year.
What about it ?

The most important thing, Does it differs if they are medical education or experience ? in other words, What weighs more in matching ?

Anything going to be listed in your Medical School Transcript is Medical Education and anything not listed is Experience.

As for your other question.
I'd give equal weight for each of them as far as matching concerned. Perhaps, for American students, the experience part is more significant as they all have similar medical education credentials but for IMGs and CMGs I'd say experience and eduction both matters equally.

Hi Sabio
You said that electives are to be put in Medical education section if they are mentioned in my transcripts, but any new entry in this section will require us to answer if we received or expect to receive a degree from that medical education and it's date! what should we do with this? ERAS just sent me an email saying that this question should be answered yes in order for my application ti be accepted. I already answered yes to the entry about my medical school, but what about the elective entry?

for example I attended a 2 months electives in University affiliated community program as part of my senior year curriculum, what should I do?
