It's confusing for me to determine which cells secrete erythropoietin?
Kaplan Lecture Note of histology says it is secreted by mesangial cells, however UW says it is secreted by peritubular capillary cells.
Any one who knows the exact answer is requested to answer it along with the source they are referencing from.

hi there

me again. both the books are right! the mesangial cells are located at the peritubular. try looking for interesting pictures online. u can see how when the mesangial cells swell up, it causes a blockage of the tubules and the GFR decreases. u need a clear cartoon image to picture this easy.:)

It's the interstitial cells of peritubular capillaries :)
