What are the chances of an "Arab" IMG getting into a residency in Thoracic surgery?
Keeping in mind that there might be a shortage of Thoracic surgeons in the US arond 2020.

I know it's competitive, but is it as competitve as Ophthalmology and Plastics??

I'm not referring to the 2 year fellowship that follows a 5 year General Surgery Residency. There are newer residency programs for thoracic surgery called integrated programs (or something like that) and they last for 6-8 years.
Please share any stories, experiences and opinions. Thanks

It's very competitive and not easy to get into it.
