It depends, How many polyps are and if BX of the polyps turn out to be cancerous or hyperplasia (hyperplastic).
start with:
Fecal occult blood test (FOBT) every year
In general population recommendations are start colonoscopy at 50 years of age then repeat every 10 years if its normal ( no polyps or small in size less the 3).
1 polyp Less then 10mm in rectum and sigmoid--check every 10 year
more then 3-10 polyps--every 5-10 years,
Sessile 3 or more polyps more than 10mm in size, tubular adenomas with low-grade dysplasia--every 5 years
3 to 10 adenomas, or a large (1 cm +) adenoma, or any adenomas with high-grade dysplasia or villous features--3 years after the polyps are removed
Serrated polyposis syndrome--do every year
If have family history of colon cancer less the 60 years of age then also do every 3-5 years years, and start colonoscopy in that case earlier at the age of 40 years
personal history of inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease) --colonoscopy start early depend when have pacolitis attack, the repeat colonoscopy every year with bx

Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) diagnosed by genetic testing, or suspected FAP without genetic testing=--colonoscopy start at 10-12 years of age

Hereditary non-polyposis colon
cancer (HNPCC), or at increased risk of HNPCC based on family history without genetic testing -colonoscopy start at the Age 20 to 25 years, or 10 years before the youngest case in the immediate family

I hope that might help.....
