a new graduate, did internship for a year and now studying for step 1.
reading done till now; kaplan biochem once, kaplan physio ongoing; have started making flash cards in anki.

Questions?
Recently i hear that many of the experts say that kaplan is a waste of time. They say that nothing in it retains at the end when you do the u world. But how can I jump straightly to first aid and u world because the basic sciences I studied were about 3 years ago and i have forgotten all major concepts. Will excluding kaplan and directly starting with first aid , pathoma and u world will solve the problems or do i have to start with kaplan first, pathoma, first aid, nbmes in between and u world??:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused

Gold standard for Step 1 is FA along with USMLEWorld and NBME. There are many other review sources but the above two are an absolute must. IMGs do Kaplan to relearn concepts.
It's true that you will not be able to retain most of the information unless you are really good at rote memorization. But if you ask me I believe in understanding rather than memorization. Don't get me wrong, there is quite a bit to memorize as well but its pointless to waste your time doing it this early in your prep. Also if it helps you, do the subjects in the numerical order as several concepts are repeated and it will further reinforce what you already know. Anki's concept is good but time consuming; but you do you. Good luck and God speed!

Other sources include Pathoma/Golijan, High Yield Series, BRS, Conrad Fischer's cases etc. Disclaimer: I have not used the above except Pathoma.
